Description

The Artwood Series was crafted to produce a traditional yet modern guitar. Technology moves forward at a frantic pace and the world of guitar craftsmanship is no different. In producing the Artwood Series, Ibanez has respected both the rich tradition of the acoustic guitar while adding modern interpretations in their continuing search for the ultimate in guitar tone. The AW54OPN Artwood Solid Top Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric features their popular dreadnought body shape, a solid mahogany top, mahogany neck, back, and sides, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge with Ibanez Advantage bridge pins. The Open Pore Natural finish shows off the guitar's naturally rich woodgrain. Finally, the AW54OPN is finished off with a tortoise shell pickguard and chrome die-cast tuners. Case sold separately.

  • Beautiful guitar, good sound
This is a great guitar and one I can see myself playing publicly, after I'm more fluent of course. I'm a classically trained musician and composer, but my instrument is the double bass. I've always plucked around with a guitar but I was never more than a novice. Recently, I decided I was going to learn to play guitar and I went lookng for an instrument that, on top of everything else, had a deep and rich tone. I wasn't just looking for any guitar. I needed one that I could also perform with. Once I knew what I was looking for, plugged in my requirements, I saw guitars ranging from $200-$300 all the way to over $1,000. I chose Ibanez because of their reputation and attention to sound quality - a decision I'm very happy with. This is a great guitar and has a very good sound. ... show more

  • Great buy!
I am a beginner, this is such a beautiful guitar. The sound is warm. My husband has a different guitar and it os nice but has a more crisp sound. I love the warmth. Perfect for a beginner. It is solid mahogany and a rosewood fret board. I have an app that is teaching me how to play . I am very excited! This was a good buy! ... show more

  • Definitely buy this guitar!
I`m doing it. My first ever review. I`m a deadhead and that means sound quality is very important to me. ( If I have to explain you wouldn`t understand ) I sing and play acoustic guitar that`s what I do and I have played a few. oops, sorry about that but it`s true. oops again, my bad. intonation is very important when singing with an acoustic guitar. Anyway, Yes this guitar is all these reviews say. I just pulled it out of the box . I live at 8,000 feet it came from sea level all is fine. Strings where tuned one octave low, perfect for the shipping travel. It tuned right up. ((( More importantly it stayed in tune ))) All frets in key. No buzz`s. Great action. Straight as an arrow. I`m taking a quick break to leave this review while I put on the $60 padded leather strap with quick lock system I treated myself to because if the reviews where true at $200 why not? if the guitar sucked I could return it and still have the strap I have always wanted. I love it a $60 strap on a $200 guitar that play`s perfect and sound`s Great! I have always wanted an Ibanez because every time I run into one being played It sounds and look`s beautiful. I have played my buddies Martin D-15M Natural a lot. and if you don`t know. This guitar is a copy of that guitar. Something Ibanez is well know for doing and doing well. Thanks Ibanez. I just saved $1,000. and my finish look`s better. Ha! I love it when I win! ..... Buy it and brag about it and the strap. I`m going to. At my next bluegrass festival i`m going to go find someone playing the D-15 and do just that. I`ll prolly get kicked out of the circle butt I`m more folk rock blues anyway... Enjoy. ... show more

  • Good guitar
I am a beginner and had this guitar for a little over a year. It sounds great and was solid. Last week it started to sound funky. I brought it in for a check up and was told it needed a new nut , bridge and the saddle was rising. $265 repair. I was pleased with learning and playing this guitar but mine had a shelf life. I recommend the guitar but will probably make a step up. I hope this helps someone. ... show more

  • My only guitar. My favorite guitar
It's hard to describe why I like this guitar so much, and why it has been so important to me this past year. Back in February, I had a large gift card and the person who gave it to me said "Please do something to spoil yourself, this time." After weeks of looking around and watching video after video, I decided this was the acoustic guitar in the price range that I liked the sound of the most. Having sold my axes years ago to pay for all the essentials required in raising a family, and letting music take a backseat to "life", I thought it would be good for my sanity to have something like this to occupy my evenings. The guitar arrived a few days later, and after a quick tune I clumsily strummed through the only song I could easily recall ("Gone" by the Tea Party). The sound was solid, and it opened up something in my heart that had been closed for many years. In the months since, this guitar was been one of the few bright spots in my life. I've played several hours almost every day since, as an escape from everything that stresses me. On my worst days at work, I keep from losing my head when I tell myself "...just a few more hours, and I can run to my room and play." I won't tell you this will be the greatest guitar you will hear, but I'd be surprised if you can find better at this price point. All I'll tell you is that this purchase has proven to be one of the most important I've made in recent memory. I'm going to take very good care of this thing. ... show more

  • Best Value Guitar
This is a super guitar regardles of the price. This neck is smooth and has a nice c shape that fits my long fingers. The wood is beautiful. The sound is warm, full and clean across all the strings. The whole guitar resonates on open chords more than any other guitar I have. Very satisfying with the Mahogany. For finger picking the sustain is long. Stays in tune. It is a light guitar which I prefer. Just easy to pick up and play. I did lower the action. It came with an extra saddle in case I goofed. Out of the box it is very playable. This guitar plays and sounds better than the more expensive guitars I have costing twice as much. You can save yourself a lot of time and money by getting it right the first time with this one. ... show more
