Due to our cat having crystals, we have been buying Vet recommended “PRESCRIPTION” Royal Canin’s dry and wet food for several years. We love our little boy and of course we want the best for him. I read one review, where they noted their SEVENTEEN pound bag of Royal Canin cost SEVENTY some dollars in 2018 or 2019…Well IT COSTS THAT MUCH FOR A SEVEN pound bag now in 2024 and has for some time! Another review mentioned how they thought the IAMS urinary tract Health smells offensive. It smells perfectly fine. Just let them smell some prescription dry and wet foods sometime. I bet they changed their minds fairly fast. Another issue I have with the prescription cat food and this has bugged me for a very long time, are the ingredients. The main ingredients of the prescription foods are the things that we tried to avoid in the first place for your cat’s health. One time I called the vet concerned about the ingredients and she had a major meltdown for me asking questions. Apparently i offended her to the soul. I have no idea if I’ve made the right decision or not, only time will tell. But one day I said enough is enough and I decided to try IAMS urinary tract dry cat food for my cat. Didn’t have to transition him from old food to new. He loves the IAMS. Sometimes I even add a tiny bit of water to it. He has his own little filtered water machine as well. Since eating the IAMS, he doesn’t puke very often either and he seems more contented. Also another thing I find quite interesting, NOT ONCE has our vet mentioned having our cat tested for the crystals again. I guess as long as we kept buying the vet's prescription food, our cat would be healthy and our vet would as happy as can be! We have an 11 year old rescue cat. She's already been operated on 2x for bladder crystals (which cost a lot of money). The doctor insisted that I give her the food they recommended, (which also cost a lot). But, my cat hated it, and wouldn't eat it. In frustration I ended up giving her other food. Hence, her second operation just 8 months after the first. We moved last summer to another state, and couldn't get the food from the vet's office. She was so freaked out over the move that we didn't want to put her through finding another vet just to get food. I accidentally found the new food on Amazon and ordered it. It's cheaper, and our cat hasn't been sick. And, she really likes the way it tastes! It's win-win-win for us. ... show more

I really don’t like IAMs based on their animal testing abuse scandal that came out back in the early aughts but I can’t afford the high end brands or prescription urinary tract products but I will say this really works and almost immediately too. Cat loves the flavor and cleans her bowl every day.

My cat tends to get urinary issues. I alternate between this and Science Diet. Honestly I am not sure if this helps as we still have issues, but the cats definitely like the taste. Price isn't bad either.

Our 3 yr old male cat had so many very expensive vet visits in the last year due to Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. He was peeing everywhere indoors, had blood in his urine, etc. I couldn’t afford the vet visits, rx cat food in dry and moist, and the special color changing cat litter. I tried this as his dry food and I offer him one small serving of soft food each day. He hasn’t had ANY symptoms or vet visits in 6 months! ... show more

When our cat was diagnosed with urinary stones he was placed on a rx diet. As you can imagine the price for a rx diet is VERY high. I ordered online and had a routine shipment. When my rx ran out and I couldn't get into the vet for over 2-months I had to make a change. I was very concerned for my cats health but noticed a few other reviews noted that they had switched over to this food and one even mentioned a vet said it could be a replacement. Given I had very little choices at the time, I made the switch. Of course I wanted my cat like a hawk during the initial change. Cats can be picky and sometimes you need to gradually change their food over time. Thankfully for me, our cat didn't have any issues with this change. The flavor must be good as he eats every piece and begs for more. The price is 1/2 what I was paying for the rx food and I believe the ingredients to be just as good. ... show more

Now there is only one, the urinary track cat that needed this food did well. But at 10 he had an unusually growth in his throat and I had to put him down. Nothing to do with the food. I'll keep his brother on this, as he likes it and has been eating it for years. I just keep this out for him, then feed him some canned wet food too. This one always was healthier than the big boy brother but they're both good boys. This guys elevator doesn't go to the top floor though. Big boy had the brains in that family lol. ... show more
