  • Very nice
I was disappointed when my expensive new computer did not have the ports needed. This product works great so far, no complaints. I like the pouch for storing and transporting. I do not understand the removable black bar, I have to remove that to attach to my computer.

  • Excellent port selection; Still working after 2 years
I've been using this dock for 2 years, and it's always worked near-perfectly. You can find lots of docks that look like this and appear to have a similar port selection, but when you look into the details, this one has lots to offer that its competitors don't measure up to: - The Thunderbolt 3 port can actually do 4k resolution at 60 Hz refresh rate - The TB3 and HDMI can both be simultaneously connected to screens (I don't think the HDMI does 4k@60Hz though; dual 4k@60 is a lot to ask) - The non-TB3 USB-C port can be used for charging. This is SO important. So many other hubs use the same port for both power delivery and connecting an external monitor, as if no one ever wanted to connect a charger and a monitor at the same time! It's tragic how hard this is to find, but this dock has it. Admittedly, the 2nd port only charges at 60W, but who cares? It charges. - All the USB ports are USB3. No guessing, they're all fast. I leave this dock on my desk at home, connected to all my peripherals. When I come home, I just flop my Macbook on the desk and connect this one dock, and I'm fully connected to my desktop setup. It's fantastic. (Note: I do connect my speakers through the headphone jack on one of the USB hubs connected to this dock, since the dock doesn't have a headphone jack.) That said, there are a few very minor hiccups I've encountered: First, the dock fits in fairly snugly, but if it gets pulled out a little bit, it loses its connection. With up to 5 cords pulling on the thing, this could happen fairly easily if you're not careful. So make sure to route all the cables you plug into it in such a way that they're not pulling it out of the Macbook. Second, this dock has a tendency to momentarily disconnect and reconnect all USB devices on it when you plug in a power-hungry USB device. This isn't an issue for a mouse or keyboard, but if you have a USB hard drive plugged in and copying files, it's going to be an issue. So be careful of that. Ultimately, these 2 downsides are very minor compared to the fantastic convenience of only having to plug in a single device to be fully connected to 2 monitors, speakers, keyboard, mouse, etc. Overall, this dock is really nice, and if I had to replace it today, I'd probably just buy another one of the same, since I haven't seen anything better on sale since it came out. ... show more

  • Not worth the price
I love the idea that this product has. It supports many different features, and some of them (particularly the SD/micro SD capabilities) work well. I tested this product on a newly-bought MacBook Pro (the latest model from 2019) running the latest Catalina OS (the strictly-64-bit OS could be part of the problems I've experienced, actually... I had to upgrade to set up Bootcamp Windows 10, so that may be worth noting if you're planning to buy a MacBook Pro while looking at this product) The issues came from the USB ports and the HDMI port: Even without plugging in any other USB-C cords, I plugged in 3 USB-A cords: A bluetooth-based mouse adaptor, an Xbox 360 Wired controller, and an external portable WD hard-drive. While all 3 were able to read properly for a while, it didn't take very long before they started to (what I assume) use too much energy from the laptop's USB-C slots and repeatedly disconnected/reconnected. The Xbox 360 Wired controller works just fine if it's the only cable plugged in. The WD hard-drive worked as a sole, USB-A cord for about an hour before it starts behaving strange. Finally, the USB-A wireless bluetooth mouse kept disconnecting even though it was the only thing plugged in. This product also doesn't play nicely with my hardshell casing I got from Best Buy: It takes up too much space because it's supposed to attach directly along the side of a significant portion of the laptop. One solution could be to cut off the conflicting parts of the shell to get the extra space to use both, but this is not an ideal solution. I had these same issues with the Anker USB C Hub to USB-A. If you're looking for a simple USB-A to USB-C solution, what worked for me was the "JSAUX USB-C to USB A 3.0 Adapter 2-Pack, [Side-by-Side Use] Aluminum Thunderbolt 3 Type C Adapter"... Just note that, with a hardshell casing, you can only plug in one of those at a time on either side of the laptop. This adapter can get the job done in small doses, but don't expect to use it for long periods of time (so like less than half an hour or so might be okay before it starts short-circuiting on you). Unfortunately, this also means you can't, for example, watch movies on fullscreen and output via the HDMI cable, because it will only last for so long before it starts going haywire. ... show more

  • This is not working well for me. Doesn't stay connected consistently to power and external monitor.
This hub is disconnecting constantly from power and external monitor... enough so that I need to replace it now to work with my clients who are depending on me to deliver a high quality, uninterrupted video conferencing experience for up to an hour (I'm a therapist). This style of device that jacks in directly to the side without cables... it's too fragile I believe, so I'll be looking for something that has a flexible cable to a solid box with good video and power connectors. ... show more
