  • Use it every day - works really well
This DOES not leak. Note that this is a flexible container, when you "tighten" it you're most likely not actually applying as much force as you think to the twisting motion. Grab the upper, ridged, top with one hand and be sure that you twist so the cap forms a seal. A normal bottle is much steadier, and your twist motion to close the cap goes into closing the cap, with this flexible bottle, some of the twisting motion just twists the entire flexible bottle walls. ... show more

  • Love these
I have purchased two of these now and they’re great, super nice quality! They come with some permanent creases in some areas where they were folded and they stay there even when filled up but I haven’t had either of them leak yet and they are holding up well. Don’t seem like they would be very durable laying on rocks or any potential rough surfaces but they are nice quality and are nice to have for camping. One last complaint is that the flow rate for the nozzle is pretty slow and light, there needs to be a way to pressurize the bladder somehow to make it come out faster. Other than that it’s a great product and worth the money to me. ... show more

  • Very Handy, but, not an everyday use kind of thing, it does smell and makes the water smell, but...
This thing stinks, I mean it really smells. Makes the water smell. There is almost nothing you can do about it. Except. Piping the water through an inline charcoal filter, I use the sawyer. it makes the water completely odor free. Seeing as how you gotta use the spigot anyway, it's really no hardship to have a charcoal filer semi permanently installed in the water flow. Other than the odor issue. This thing is just fantastic. Packs small, weighs almost nothing empty. The mechanism for the hose attachment is really nice and seems durable. Considering the capacity and the size when empty and the seemingly heavy duty construction and versatility it's great, Ideally, one would use this for a "grey" water tank with an inline water filter and charcoal filter into a "clean" water receptacle. Then all the concerns about odor are negated. ... show more

  • Doubles as a pillow
I needed a large water storage container that would fit easily in my kayak and be easy to access and use while paddling. The Hydrapak Expedition 8-liter bag was perfect. I paddle and camp in Florida where we have raccoons and black bears that go after fresh water, which means you have to keep your water in your tent. I have a small tent, and didn't want to take up precious space storing my water. I figured that the shape and size would be perfect to use as a pillow and it was delightful—way better than an inflatable pillow. Kind of like a water bed, but for your head. Because it's black it warms the water inside it if is if exposed to the sun. That's perfect for washing up in the evening. Alternatively, I wrap it in an insulated reflective bag if I want it to stay cooler. It seems to be very well made and well thought out. ... show more

  • Came in Defective... Again
Wanted to love it. But it came with a hole in it. So much for being Durable... I didnt even get to use it yet UPDATE: 08/13/2019 I received my 2nd replacement. I did an inspection for any damage or holes and couldnt find any. I filled it with water to see if there is anywhere that it could leak from, especially from the seams. No leak either. So far so good. Took it out in the fields for acouple days and it survived. I am Pleased! When everything is in working order, this product is a 5 STAR. But because I received so many defective ones. I am only going to keep this as a 4 Star. UPDATE: 08/07/2019 I received another as a replacement and again, another leak located near the bottom of the bar that tells you how much water you have inside. Its a really small leak. I only noticed it after leaving it alone filled with water and noticed wet spots on the outside. Then i pressed down and found where the water is coming through.. I am done with this product...... but i really like it. It has the volume, the portability, the little water dispenser. Ima give it one more try. Thirds a charm hopefully ... show more

  • Holds water like a champ!
I'll admit, I haven't used it out in the 'wild' yet...but initial unboxing and inspection says it's a sweet item! The HydraPak material feels substantial and has a nice matte feel and sporty look, but collapses down to a compact size and is lightweight. It holds a good amount of water and after having it filled to the brim and laying on its side all day, hasn't let a drop escape! The spigot system is very easy to use and adds versatility for dispensing. I haven't tested the true holding power of the carrying handle or lashing straps yet. It seems very well made and I've seen pictures of it hanging from them, but it's full weight is just over 17# and that makes me a little nervous. The ONLY con I can speak of is it doesn't live up to it's claim of free standing - not when completely full anyway. But it does when it's about 3/4 full so that's close enough for me! If you're looking for a durable, versatile water-holding-vessel that tucks out of the way when not in use - you won't be disappointed! Buy it! ... show more

  • Leaky cap?
Bottle leaks from the cap. It's just a small drip, but it makes whatever it's sitting on wet. I contacted the company and they were great and sent me another unit. Replacement unit leaks from the cap unless it's juust right... I had no issues with water taste, but I washed it out with citrus water before I even used it. Water tasted great, as if it was straight out of my filter system. I did not have any taste issues other reviewers had. I made some 'O' rings for the cap. The plastic molding has an indent for the cap to nest into when it is tightened and an o-ring fits nicely into place. This seems to get rid of my leaky cap issue. Great customer service on the replacement. I wish the cap was designed to be a little more forgiving. ... show more

  • Spicket issue
Nice design but without a port to add air the spicket will stop before a 32oz bottle is filled. I end up pressing on the bag to add pressure. I would have preferred another unit.
