I have no complaints at all. The headset sounds great, and they feel comfortable while wearing. I haven't tried out the microphone yet. I would highly recommend them.

The product details claims this headset is compatible with Xbox but the instruction manual says it is not. This was extremely disappointing finding out it was falsely advertised to be compatible.

    • Downgrade from HW20 but with a hardware volume knob!

Picked up a set of these HW12's on Black Friday for 25, along with their HW20 since the specs are so similar. I was glad I did as they are quite different. The 20 is the better sounding/overall set (assuming I don't have the breaking buttons issue other reviewers have seen). The weight is within a gram or two. The claimed battery size is ~1/3 on the 20 but the claimed lifetime is the same? As long as it is lightweight and lasts I don't care who is behind the curtain. The HW12 has two standout features which are abandoned on the HW20: The swingable boom (small issue as the 20's is out of the way enough to eat and such), and the HARDWARE VOLUME KNOB! The volume knob means the headset will be at the volume you set when you use it next time, you can even set it before you turn it on. And you know when you're at the end because you can feel it. You can swiftly make large, or small, changes. Interestingly, the knob is still a software knob - my windows PC actually sets the requested level (over bluetooth). But it's not a fake "how many clicks", it's reading a real potentiometer then sending software commands (great since there is no potentiometer noise). But the sound on the HW20's is significantly louder, and much much more full in the lower frequencies. The HW12 has sound you live with, the 20 just has normal sound. It's no audiophile's dream, but it's fine for a budget set and a big step up if you need a headset. Lastly: The ear pads / cups have a similar looking contact surface, but the sides are more open on the HW12. This looks like it would (and it does!) let in more ambient air/sound, and they sort of feel lighter.... This may even be the source of the poor bass response.... But if you want something which will let you hear around you a bit more, then the 12's could be for you. ... show more
