  • this gooseneck saver is fantastic
Style: Modern
This gooseneck saver has been fantastic. It slides easily into my alto sax gooseneck and quickly absorbs the moisture inside. Ive used it a while now and have been very pleased with the product. I just happened to try sliding it into my alto sax mouthpiece and was amazed to find out that it fits perfectly into my mouthpiece. I just slide it into the mouthpiece and pull it out the other end and the mouthpiece is dry as well so it appears to have a dual purpose. I couldnt be more thrilled with my purchase of this product. This gooseneck saver is flexible, soft, durable and absorbs moisture fast. A must for every alto sax player. Great product! ... show more

  • Great
Style: Modern
The media could not be loaded. This works just fine for removing moisture from the neck. I run a cloth swab through first, and then stick this in, and store it in my case. It keeps it's shape and will conform to the neck. On alto, it goes in really easy, you just have to be aware of the pip which protrudes slightly. Just aim the swab away from that protrusion, and you'll be fine. It's not really something that you need if you have a cloth swab. However, it works great to clean out the neck alone, as you can just run it through and leave it out to dry. It's a bit big to run through a mouthpiece, though you probably could if you wanted to. I find that a simple cloth swab does a good enough job there. ... show more

  • Great Product But the Listing is Problematic
Style: Modern
I love HW Products, and I know the original creators of these products. The problem is the listing. HW makes several products for woodwind instruments. They make a cleaning swab for Alto Sax and Bari Sax neck (which this is); however, they also make a product for Tenor Sax neck. I thought I was buying the one for tenor sax. It is OK because I can use them anyway. But if you need one specifically for Tenor Sax, you had better make double check to see whether they carry that one. ... show more

  • would be good for straight soprano
Style: Pad Saver Soprano Saxophone
curved soprano requires giving the pad saver a " hair cut" in order to fit the small opening at top. that said it works well and is well made.

  • Does what it's designed to do.
Style: Modern
It cleans out the neck of my saxophone quite well. It's easier than pull-through swabs, and I can't imagine it can get stuck on the octave pip like some pull throughs can.

  • H.W. Alto/Bari Neck Saver
Style: Modern
I've only used this neck saver a couple of days, but I find it to be very helpful for quick and thorough runs through my neck to get the saliva out during practice so it doesn't build up and leak out onto the keys and my fingers. It works much better than the silk cloth and string because the silk cloth misses the outside curve of the neck. It also works great one the mouthpiece (after removing the reed of course). The only thing I'd like changed is for the rod to be about 1/2 inch longer than it is so it would be easier to grasp and pull out. I don't leave this in the neck though, I just run it through and set it aside to dry. This isn't like a baby's diaper that pulls the wetness away from the neck, it just holds the moisture, so the way I see it, if you leave it inside the neck, you're still leaving the damp threads against the metal. ... show more

  • Good... but didn't last
Style: Modern
When I first got the neck saver I thought it was very useful and it easily cleaned the neck. I used this for a good 8 months until the cleaner started to fall apart. At certain points where the cleaner bends the material (fuzz stuff) started to fall off. Ive still kept the cleaner because it is still useful but the wire holding the cleaner together is now exposed and the fuzz stuff is starting to collect everywhere in the house and sometimes at the bottom of the saxophone. ... show more

  • Inexpensive, excellent neck swab/saver for Alto sax!
Style: Modern
Was looking for a good 'swab' for my Alto sax - Conn 1924 Alto - and needed something long enough to push through the neck. This one JUST makes it... works well, is flexible enough, but stiff enough to push through. Voila! So far, so great. I'll buy these again. I prefer a swab, but this is actually easier to deal with. I also use it on the mouthpiece - I know... be gentle because you can actually slightly 'reface' your mouthpiece every time you 'swab' it! Better to run water through both the mouth piece and neck instead, then use this to dry it! ... show more
