More important than being a more rigid metal material over which a flexible hose could easily be clamped to, this adapter is truer to the 5" / 4" hose it is transitioning into. The dimensions are truer than others I have tried. Give this product a try.

    • Great make sure you get hvac tape.

Since it is metal it will absorb heated air. So beware of what you use as attachments. Dont use plastic zip ties. Use metal clamps and hvac tape helps dissipate heat. I used it for portable ac unit. It works, but the connector does got really hot. Use with Heat resistant tape and vent only.

My house has a three inch hole in the wall. I don’t know why. Dryer vent ducts are 4 inch. So I got this to connect the two. The end of the adapter wasn’t quite long enough to make it to the outside of the hole, so I opened a can of corn on both ends and washed that and taped it. As you can see. It was a perfect fit. This adapter works perfectly for my new dryer. it’s nice quality, the metal isn’t flimsy and won’t dent very easily. If you have a three inch vent hole for your dryer, then this is what you need. I’m sure it can be used in other applications, but I can definitely vouch for the fact that it works well for dryer vents. ... show more
