  • Old One is 20+ Years Old and Still Going
My old one was purchased in 2003 as a rebranded Craftsman. It is a different color with different stickers but is otherwise built identically. Ironically this new 2023 model doesn't appear to have changed much, if at all. I've used this blower for residential maintenance nearly 1x per week minimum, all 4 seasons including light snow removal. Plenty powerful to easily move grass clippings, moderate amounts of (wet or dry) leaves and powdery snow. I've really worked this thing like a rented mule, and have done all of the repairs and maintenance along the way. Here's what I can tell you... 1. Pay attention to the bolts fastening the two halves together, especially those in the aluminum standoffs. These loosened over time and caused considerable damage when they did. If not for this, no need for me to replace it yet. Loctite red is your BFF here. 2. Run the best synthetic oil you can buy. The fuel inlet and exhaust ports and circuits are tight and can plug up very easily. 3. Use only non-ethanol gasoline, and treat it with stabilizer immediately when you fill your can and add the 2-stroke oil. These carburetors will make you pay if you don't. 4. Old one has a 40:1 mix ratio. New one states 50:1, presumably for emissions. Old one ran very very clean on 40:1. 5. Buy either a spare carburetor or several rebuild kits. Not a matter of if but when the carburetor will fail. It's a 5 minute job to rebuild and/or replace. 6. Buy the carburetor air:fuel adjustment tool. These machines seem exceptionally temperamental to all sorts of things including temperature, gasoline, air cleaner flow, etc. A very little tweak will often have a significant impact on how it runs. 7. The stock fuel lines will eventually harden and leak. Keep a fuel assembly (bulb, lines, filter) on hand. 15 minute service job. 8. Install an iridium plug. They start and fire so well, and likely will never need to ever be replaced; only inspected and cleaned every 5 years or so. 9. Remove and blow out the air filter regularly with compressed air, until it's no longer looking good. Replace then. Keep a stack of these on-hand. 10. The leaf mulching option is worth the extra cost. Some places like mulch beds are just not easy to rake, or make more mess than it's worth blowing. Sucking these out can be the best option. Just be careful not to suck up anything rigid like sticks, wood chips or rocks. If you want absolutely trouble-free, this might not be for you. Maybe buy an electric one (the battery will eventually die and need to be replaced though). If you have a bit of mechanical ability, this little monster should serve you well. My old one is still running but is finally getting a bit worn out, so I've bought this new one proactively for when it is finally retired. I did not consider for a minute buying a different model, it's that good, for me anyway. ... show more

  • Combo blower/vacuum
This unit is a great at blowing debris, the attachment's are well constructed to fit,the suction attachment is somewhat cumbersome to connect to unit, but the sucking power is great as long as it is not damp/wet leaves a great combo for the price starts easy, the weight of the unit is easy to handle I have had no problems in starting and using the unit so far except for the attachment issue could be better for such a reputable company as they are well known for quality equipment ... show more

  • Great blower with some drawbacks
I just used mine yesterday for about 3 hours BLOWER and VAC set up getting up those fall leaves in Ohio and wanted to share my opinions. There are many reviews (which helped me choose this husq blower vac) so I will skip over the obvious. I have used a sears craftmen gas blower vac for about 12 years so this is my second blower vac. What I liked about the BLOWER; great velocity on the blower I was happy with an increase in power from my old sears machine. As a blower it shines and I like the trigger control for variable control of the blower. The "speed control" lever works great too. Starts quickly and it is a pretty easy pull on the rope. I thought when in idle mode it was not too loud for a 2 cycle. YES when you shift to your left hand the engine wants to suck up your pant leg as others mentioned. If I was a "lefty" I don't know if I would buy this because of that. BLOWER Dislikes; My arm got tired pretty quickly while using it.(thats why I know about the lefty side problem) I don't know if its the weight of it or the ergonimics-balance but my sears wasn't as bad. I'm going to try using the strap that came with the leaf bag next time I use it. I DO NOT like the off switch. It has a soft clear plastic cover over the rocker switch and it makes it very hard to shut the thing off. If you have gloves on,it is almost impossible! Likes for the VAC; Very good suction and the bag is pretty good size. I was amazed at how many leaves it sucked up between dumping the bag compaired to my sears model. It does a very nice job of mulching large leaves into sm shreaded leaves. If you are careful about how you suck up leaves it won't jam up. I experienced one or two jams always in the big suction tube never in the small tube at the bag end. VAC DISLIKES; I hate the way all of these blower vacs are designed for VAC including my 10 yr old sears. A pain to switch over from the blower. With this one you'd better carry a screw driver in your pocket. I was way in the back yard and removed the main tube to clear the jam. The door slammed shut when removing the tube and you can NOT get it open WITH OUT a screw driver. So I had to go back to the house just to get a screw driver...grr. Also be careful whenever reaching inside the main suction tube, you have to secure the 2 tube sections with a screw and it will tear up your hand if you scrape by it with your hand or arm. Also after about an hour of using this vac my back was about ready to break. (I don't think any of them are any better in this department)When I was done for the day I had one heck of a time "Unlocking" the vac tube from the unit. My sears was much easier to undo. So all this said I am happy with my Husqvarna and at this stage after a few hours of continued use I would buy again. No it's not perfect but neither will the others all of similar designs. Funny how you have so many brands of blower-vac's and they all seem to build around the same basic (somewhat flawed) design. I'll update later if needed. UPDATE!!! Thankfully it has a 2 YEAR WARRANTY! Would not start this year 4/2013. Two shops selling and servicing Husq in my area (listed by Husq on their website) would not take my blower in to even look at it. One was apparently not thrilled with warranty work on an Amazon purchased unit the other wouldn't work on their blowers because they don't sell the blowers. The third place (farthest away) was glad to take it in for warranty service gave me great service and returned to me in 24 hours! They replaced the gas line. They said because of the formula change in gasoline now using more ethanol the Husq gasoline lines dissolve. Something they could not have foreseen at time of manufacture. So if you are having starting issues on an older unit that is why. They replaced with the newer gas line material and I am back in business! ... show more

  • Second blower
This is husbands second blower in 2 weeks. He ran over the first one 😊. He insisted on ordering a replacement because he said it was just what he wanted. Does a great job
