Imagine how big you think this product should be and then add 3 inches and that’s how big it actually is. Very bulky. Only reason I can’t give 5 stars because it is just so much bigger than I think it should be. Have used this 5 times this year and it has been wonderful to forget the hand crank systems or messy tangled ropes. This hoist is very safe so far. Tension seems just right. Has been a game changer for hunting from my climber or saddle or ladder stands. Hoist is secure, quiet and a little pricey but imo worth it. I’ve met and cared for too many people with brain/spinal cord/orthopedic injuries from falling out of tree stands so having both hands free as long as possible is critical while getting up and down a tree. There are videos on YouTube about making your own diy hoist using a pouch and a dog leash. Could probably save about 10 bucks doing that but that may be a better option only if you have more time than money.

It seems durable and stout, bigger size than what I was expecting. I’ve only used it once and it performed well. I have a heavy backpack and was concerned if it would hold it or not, but it didn’t miss a beat. Not sure how I like the belt clip, but I can put it in my pocket as I climb. The weight itself is good. I do like the automatic retractor.

I loved this hoist … but this morning .. I attached it to my gun and climbed up into my tree stand and the hoist did not retract the line?? Hoping the seller will respond to this review … ! So the seller, Spokane supply did respond and said they could not help me, it was between me and the manufacture. I will not be purchasing any more products from this supplier! Still have not heard back from Huntin Hoist and I've sent 2 emails!
