First off, I have NEVER made a pizza oven pizza in my life.I purchased this for an upcoming family fun night. I watched several videos before using the oven, both on the company website and on youtube which is advised, but this oven is very easy to use. My tips for a perfect pizza are: The first time I tried to light the grill it was admittedly difficult. This is not an unusual problem for any gas grill regulator. Make sure the oven is off when you turn the propane tank on. Also, I wasn't getting good gas flow until I turned the regulator so the hose was vertical (hose sticking straight up or down). This is the trickiest part of using the oven. Don't get frustrated. Preheat at max flame for 15-20 mins. Make it as thin as you think you can. Don't try to make a pizza that is too big to fit in the oven. The smaller the pizza the easier it is to maneuver. After getting the oven as hot as possible (at least 15-20 minutes), turn the flame down as low as you can but still see a decent flame Keep the pizza as close to the front as possible. You want it as far from the back as you can get it. You will be turning the pizza, so don't worry about the front not cooking. Keep a close eye on the back of the pizza so as not to let it burn. Turning the pizza: YOU NEED TO TAKE THE PIZZA OUT OF THE OVEN TO TURN IT. So many complaints are about turning the pizza in the tiny little oven. Unless you have some magical pizza peel, I don't see any other way to do this. It is very simple, pull it all the way out, turn it by hand 180deg on your peel, put it back in. For the best results, turn your fire back up to max after you pull your finished pizza and give your stone a few minutes to get back up to temp. This isn't absolutely crucial, but helpful. This may sound like a lot of work, and it is I suppose, but if you are having fun making the pizzas and everyone is freaking out over how cool your new gizmo is and delicious the pizzas are, isn't that what it's all about? A little practice and maybe one or two trial pizzas and you will be an expert in no time! ... show more

I honestly can't believe the results I got with this oven. I've been experimenting with italian flour for years, having very good results always but I needed to upgrade my oven eventually (the one I have works with wood) and never thought this incredible cheap oven I got while traveling was going to be what I needed. I am a pro now, and for those who burn their pizzas, you need to learn first how to control de knob while cooking, rotate every 20 secs, and work with pizzas doughs below 250 grams for the perfect diamater, ideally 230 grams. I know that's not the weight of an original napoletan pizza but it's decent enough. Best purchase I have ever made. In my country this same oven costs 500 bucks and here I got it for only 150, unbelievable. ... show more

I received the unit with a cracked backing stone. This is not a universal part due to its dimensions. Rather than return to Amazon, I reached out to the Hungry Chef at their support website. They did respond and said they would send me the replacement stone after I exchanged shipping info with them. Here we are now outside of my return window, and they have not responded to me in weeks and I'm stuck with a cooker that has a cracked stone. Lesson learned - next time I'll just return it and buy from a reputable brand. Update: 8/25/23: Almost a year later and not a word from Hungry Chef about the replacement stone. We've wanted a pizza oven for a long time. The regular oven only gets to about 550F and the BBQ doesn't cook the top of the pizza well enough. Then this amazing thing comes along. It delivers as promised. I found that lower than max temp worked perfectly and avoided the over-charred crust.I used the provided sauce recipe with success so far. I look forward to trying some other types. If you are on the fence about this, listen: Buy it! Nothing easier than gas. Pizzas on my second try came as good as the best restaurant pizzas I've had. At some point almost all my impulsive amazon purchases end up stored away in the garage. To my surprise this was not the case with this hungry chef pizza oven. We’ve used it over 30 times since purchasing as it's extremely entertaining to have our friends/family over for a pizza night (+wine)! Yes: there is a slight learning curve to getting it all down. I watched a lot of YouTube videos and read the FB Forums on pizza making - but that is part of the fun. Don’t get frustrated on your first go around.
