I purchased this bike for my granddaughter on her 6th birthday. What impressed me most was the ease of assembly. I was prepared for hours of reading tedious instructions and searching for small parts. Thankfully the bike was 90% pre-assembled. Only the training wheels, handlebars and seat had to be mounted onto the frame which had already been assembled. The training wheels just snapped on with no tools needed. The only challenge was mounting the handlebars which fit very tightly into the frame. The instructions said they could be pushed in, but I had to drive them in using a hammer and a piece of 2x4 so as not to damage any metal parts. However, during the process I may have damaged the front wheel inner tube which blew out when I pumped up the front tire. I suggest adding a least a small amount of air to the tires to protect the tubes during this step. Generally, the quality seems good but the seat cover could be more securely stapled to the seat. It looks like several of the staples could easily work their way out after some use. Also the training wheels are nothing special... only plastic discs on a shaft. A word of caution here. The training wheels while adequate, will not 100% prevent a fall. My granddaughter had no experience with a bicycle and would have fallen due to a turn which was too sharp had I not been holding onto the bike. The bike is decorated nicely with colorful decals and handlebar streamers but there are no frills like baskets or doll seats. Even the brakes are the old fashioned 'coaster' type instead of handlebar brakes. There are plenty of cheaper or more expensive choices out there. But I'm satisfied with the value for the price paid. ... show more

My daughter needed an upgrade (she's about to turn 5) and the 12" bike was too small for her. She LOVES this bike!!! It was easy to assemble (for the most part) as in, it didn't really require any tools and in 3 or 4 steps the whole bike is assembled. BUT - the handlebars clicking into the base - that part was NOT EASY. My husband had to tinker with it and use some tools and apply some insane force (he was worried he was going to pop the tire!) to get it to actually click so it would stop coming apart. Outside of that little tricky assembly thing, I think it's a great bike for a great price. ... show more

    • Handle bar issues-maybe know how to fix that

We returned the first one we ordered because (like so many previous reviews) the handle bars felt loose after about 25 times (and about 3 hours) of unscrewing and retrying to secure them to the bike. Got a replacement bike the next day. My husband unscrewed the “stembolt” almost all the way (to get it just so it doesnt fall off) and re-inserted the handle bars into the fork. Making sure the front wheel aligned with the rest of the bike, he then twisted the white locking mechanism. Then he allen-wrenched the handlebars down and that FINALLY seemed to secure the handle bars to the bike. Not sure if this will work for anyone else but it did for us. ... show more

We bought the 20" version of this bike for our daughter who just turned 6. Upon unpacking we were quite happy with the Huffy product, and assembly was easy once we were able to figure out the overly-vague assembly instructions (there is an order in which the front fork needs to be tightened that is not explained and if you do it out of order, the piece will not sit tight in its place). We discovered the biggest problem the following day though: our daughter is still using training wheels and despite all of the product information stating the bike would accommodate them, it is now clear this DOES NOT apply to the 20" version (i.e. the bolt holding the back wheel on does not extend far enough on either side for a training wheel to be added). Considering this was a birthday present for our daughter who was excited to ride her new bike, this was incredibly frustrating and its apparent they need to clarify in the product description / specs that the training wheels information is not applicable for the bigger version of this product.
