They do smell like chemicals when you first take them out of the package. But I planned on washing everything before my baby touches it anyways. The smell came out in one wash and it stayed soft ( I washed on cold gentle and dried on low delicates). It fit my Pivot Vizor carseat.

I bought this to use instead of the head support that came with the car seat. This is so soft and looks really cute. The snaps make it really simple to take on and off if it needs washed. The belt covers attach with Velcro. I worried that parts of the Velcro might show and catch his clothes or irritate him, but it's completely covered and we've had no problems with that.
