I have owned an IKEA Markus chair for at least eight years now, and working from home, have generally spent upwards of 70 hours a week sitting in it. It's still comfortable, even if the seat pad is a bit compressed by now. I was considering a replacement Markus, or a used Steelcase/Herman Miller. When this popped up for review, it seemed like a no-brainer to try out. The package you receive is impossibly small. It is extremely well packed, including perhaps an excess amount of plastic and bubble wrap for each piece. Good for the chair, perhaps not so good for the landfill (the plastic may or may not be recyclable in your area). The hardware is packaged as plastic bubbles on a cardboard backer, separated by letter and type. This was super helpful when putting everything together. The instructions are some of the best I've ever seen, regardless of where a product was assembled. You should not have any issue at all putting this chair together if you are literate. Also, a lot of stuff from China I've received over the years has had some cosmoline or the like to help protect from rust, none of that here. Even the cylinder was free of visible grease to try and get everywhere. You get two (small) white gloves, but you shouldn't need them. As I stated, assembly was a breeze. I accidentally skipped the step where you attach the back to the seat, and it actually worked out very well for me. Put the seat on the cylinder, then lay on the floor and put the back on. That's a free tip. I've sat in the chair a few days now, and while the seat might not be quite as comfortable as a padded one, it still does the job well. Definitely will still be an adjustment period having sat in the Markus for so long. The lumbar support feels weird at times, but it isn't uncomfortable. Lots of adjustments can be made with the lumbar support, headrest, and armrests. The pattern on the chair is very pleasant to look at. The armrests have a bit of cushion on them, and should stand up well to arm sweat. Now, for the things that aren't so great. The seat doesn't come up in height as much as the Markus, thankfully I have a sit/stand desk that I should be able to lower a bit more to be the right height. I thought I got one with squeaky arms, but a bit more tightening on the arm bolts has quieted them down. Hopefully that doesn't return, because a squeaky armrest is a dealbreaker for me. I also thought that there was no recline lock, but pushing in the lever instead of pulling it out solved that - it was pulled out from the only way I could see to get it out of the box. Those are all minor things. The one big complaint I have is the asking price. At $300, you can get a lot of chairs for less money. Glaringly so, ones that look exactly like this one on this very site. Different color material, but they look almost identical. Their prices are all under $200, so at full price the others would probably be worth a look instead. Right now, there is a 45% coupon listed, which brings it down to a more reasonable $165 or so. I'd say that, or maybe $199, should be the regular price. Those are about what used Steelcase Leaps are going for, and other comparable chairs on the market. That said, it's a GOOD chair, with GREAT instructions. I'll have to sit on this one for a few months to see if it can approach the greatness of the Markus, but that one has moved to another part of the house pending my long-term review of this one. It's promising thus far.

I recently bought a HON chair after owning another for several years and was disappointed in the quality. I decided to buy a mesh chair for the first time and decided to grab this one based on the good reviews. It was easy to put together by myself. The directions are well written and all of the parts are labeled and packaged nicely. The chair is comfortable, feels solid, and has a breathable material. It is supportive without feeling stiff like other mesh chairs I have sat in feel. One thing to note is that width of the seat is only 18.7". It gives you a fairly narrow feeling compared to a typical executive style chair. My HON executive chair has a 26" seat width and feels less claustrophobic. Despite the claim that it can support 300 pounds I think a person of that size would be hard pressed to fit in the chair. Overall, I really like the chair but if you have a larger frame or are plus size take note of the seat dimensions.

Having had this a few days now I have found that I like it. Not mormally a fan of mesh chairs, this one beat my expectations. Putting it together was easy enough and I like that it's all black. My biggest gripe about previous mesh chairs is that the front seat frame always dug into my legs. This one doesn't do that. Good design. This has all the adjustments you would expect. Even the headrest is adjustable but it will get very little use. The lumbar support on this actually works for me. I am only 6' tall and never sat in a mesh chair that had any kind of useful lumbar support. I'm liking this one. Close inspection reveals no flaws worth mentioning. Not a thread out of place. I have not had this long and cannot comment on longevity but should somthing go wrong with this I will revisit this review and updatew it. I'm using this chair to write this review and find it to be comfy and a good deal. I have no problem recommending this.
