I really like this laptop. It's a model 15, not a Pavillion, but I don't care. It came with Windows 11 installed, which is not what I wanted. The good news is that you can just roll it back to Win 10 since the computer's license is good for both. It DOES have a back-lit keyboard. You have to hit F5 to turn it on. Hitting F5 again dims the light. Mine has the Ryzen 3 processor in it, which is fine with me. I had a Dell with the Ryzen 7 chip, and I do not know how it didn't catch on fire. In fact, it did fry my Dell internally, causing me to forever lose a bunch of stuff that I should have backed up anyway. I'll stick with the Ryzen 3. This laptop gets slightly warm and seems to have a good fan. I use this laptop for work, and it's lived up to all of my tasks. The battery could be better...it doesn't last along as some... but this is not essential for me. The only disappointment I have is the screen. Apparently, these types of screens have this weird gradient-like look. At the top of the screen, it looks normal, but it fades in saturation from the middle to the bottom. The bottom looks very washed out. I play a HOS game, and this is VERY disappointing. I've spent hours online trying to get the screen to just display uniformly. Haven't solved it yet, and HP has no online solution for it. That's my only complaint, so overall, I'm happy with it. It's an HP 15, not a Pavilion. I don't care, but some people might. In 3 places it says Windows 10 and that helped me make my decision, but it is Windows 11. I could have gotten Windows 11 at Best Buy and get some support, but believed Windows 10 could be had on Amazon. I've learned that you can make 11 look like 10 using OpenShell, StartAllBack or Start11, so I won't return it. 11 may be faster, but it seems like false advertising. ... show more

There is absolutely nothing to not love about this laptop. I don't know what other people received, but this laptop DOES COME WITH a backlit keyboard with an intermediate dimming option. With 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD and a fast processor, it is an unbelievable steal at this price. The graphics are video gaming quality and it has an option for HDMI as well as USB-C and USB-A which is just perfect. The batteries are good, but there could be some improvement in that area. After 4 hours on the phone with a very helpful tech at HP, it works fine, and so far, having owned it for 24 hours, it is working great now. Before reaching HP I would have retutrned it because after I downloaded some things and put some personal data on it, I was unable to get past entering my pin, was sent to a pale blue screen. HP tech dowloaded updates, etc., for 3-4 hours and now it works fine so I'm going to keep it. I don't need a Pavilion. I'm not a gamer. ... show more

Display resolution is not good. I should have known better. The mouse pad, while centered with the keypad, is so far over to the left I’m constantly right clicking when I want to left click. It’s very always for my hand.

This laptop is just what I need. I don't want the cheapest laptops there are because I do some light gaming and, as a college student, use of specialized academic software for my field, but I also don't have the budget nor the need for the fanciest laptops there are. I can do my schoolwork and play Minecraft on it, and that's all I really need at this point. It has a beautiful silver color and rounded corners, making it much more visually appealing than my last laptop too. If I have one complaint, the screen feels a bit desaturated in color, but I'm getting used to it. Overall, this laptop does what I like to do absolutely fine. ... show more
