    • It is NOT thermostatically controlled as advertised.
This water heater was purchased to keep my bird bath from freezing. It was a big plus that it listed it as thermostatically controlled so it only comes on near freezing temps. But this doesn't happen. That means it stays on 24/7 so I'm paying more for electricity and this means the water is evaporating in two days and needs to be refilled. I use mine in a bird bath. It's not to deep and can cause it to almost become a sauna. I have to add water to it almost every day

    • Teflon coated
The non coated ones seem to get a corrosion coat on them reacting with the minerals in the water. This one has made it through the winter without that corrosion coat and should last a few winters more.
