All I can say is that I am very impressed with the unit that I got. While it is an older laptop, it honestly doesn't feel like it. There are a handful of scratches across the unit that seem to have come with normal wear, but other than that, the unit is near perfect. Battery life is decent for a used laptop, the screen is literally perfect with no scratches on the unit. The speakers are nice and crisp with a nice and heavy bass and are able to easily fill a small room without issue. While I haven't had a lot of time to use the laptop yet, from what I can tell, this is an extremely well built and lasting computer to pick up. For me, while the M1 MacBooks are definitely more powerful, the only other laptop that comes close to the MacBook Pro with the i7 is the M1 MacBook Air, which doesn't have a fan which can cause the computer to overheat with prolonged use. While this won't be able to hit the performance markers that the Air can hit, it definitely does better with staying cool thanks to the built in fans. I'm very satisfied with the purchase of this MacBook Pro, only have a minor ding on the left Conner, otherwise it's in like new condition. Arrived a day early, well packed and like new much to my surprise. This is by far the best option for the budget I have. Keyboard actually looks brand new. I loved the big 17" MacBooks when Apple still made them because I could perform a lot of upgrades, etc. - but especially for the spacious screen. When I came across this 2019 16" MacBook Pro I purchased it with some hesitations, it is used and refurbished. There is also the different conditions depending on scratches and other signs of wear. I've bought Apple products, including laptops, from Apple's used products which are also refurbished. All the used laptops I've purchased from Apple has been like brand new. I was apprehensive about buying one from Amazon. The laptop came in a run of the mill shipping box, including power brick and C cord. The laptop is in excellent condition. I had to look close to find any damage or signs of use, and what I found was very minor and hard to find. The screen has no dead pixels and looks great. I got the model with the Intel Core i7, 16mb ram, and 500gb hard drive. It works great for what I use a laptop: word processor, watch YouTube, web browsing, and other light uses. I also have a 2023 MacBook Pro with the apple M2 pro and really there is no comparison. The M2 smokes the Intel chip. I was aware of this when I purchased this laptop so I'm fine with the speed difference. The power brick was not Apple and not rated anywhere near what Apple had included with the original. I contacted the company that refurbished it and within days I received a replacement. The replacement was still not rated as high as the original, but it works and I didn't request another. The nice thing was I did not have to go through the hassle of boxing up and shipping the first power brick. The company was fast to respond to my complaint and had the replacement shipped quickly. In the pictures I included in this review, there are a few of the bottom side. At first I thought it was a plastic cover, but obviously it's not. It's some sort of what I'm guessing to be a protective shield. It's not something I would put on my laptop mainly because it might interfere with the cooling system. It does not seem to make the laptop run hot. Also, when I've watched reviews on YouTube the reviewer almost always whines about the cooling fans and how loud they are. I can hardly hear them when they kick in and for what I use it for, the fans don't run that often. Will I ever buy another Amazon refurbished? I wouldn't hesitate.     • Item will not turn on
Bought as a gift for my daughter for college. Item remained in the box until her school was to start. When she opened the item, it would not turn on. Charged for about an hour and still wouldn't turn on. Charged for 3-4 hours and still wouldn't turn on. Charged over night and still not turn on. Took to Apple service store and discovered there is no serial number on the item, so Apple cannot help troubleshoot. I have spent $750 or a product that has never been able to even turn on. Unfortunately, there is no clear path to contact seller directly and try to replace through Amazon because the return window is outside of 90 days. Three things that I wish I had known; there is no serial number on this laptop, which comes with all Apple products for support, no contact information for the seller to give them an opportunity to correct their defective product and Amazon will not authorize a return outside of the return window. I am humiliated for giving this defective item to my daughter and frustrated with no way to at least get the item replaced or money refunded. Update: Seller responded with only one sentence (name was Max) to my message via Amazon stating they refuse to replace the product or try and fix it. I feel I have been a subject of fraud and will report to Amazon and BBB. ... show more
