  • Awesome mid-level laptop that can handle essentially any office work. Great for students as well.
QUICK LOOK: The HP OmniBook 3 delivers a straightforward value proposition for students, home workers, and anyone needing reliable productivity without the ultrabook premium pricing. This machine hits the balanced sweet spot between capability and cost, functioning as a dependable workhorse for documents, spreadsheets, online learning, video streaming, and basic multitasking without any noticeable strain. The AMD Ryzen processor paired with 512GB of fast SSD storage keeps everything responsive and snappy throughout Windows 11, making boot times quick and application launches immediate across Microsoft Office, web browsers, and streaming apps. The 16-inch 2K touchscreen immediately catches your attention with its brightness and color vibrancy, making document work and video consumption genuinely pleasant rather than a compromise. Battery endurance is genuinely impressive, lasting long enough through extended work and school sessions to eliminate constant power-seeking behavior. The keyboard and trackpad feel responsive and well-considered, the design stays slim and lightweight for portability, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity keeps you connected properly, and the whole operation runs quietly even under normal workloads. The single structural limitation is that RAM comes soldered to the motherboard rather than upgradeable, which means future memory expansion isn't possible. For average users handling typical workloads this won't matter, but anyone planning heavy multitasking or long-term expansion flexibility should know this going in. THE GOOD STUFF: • 16-inch 2K touchscreen displays bright, crisp, vibrant visuals • Sharp text rendering and excellent color reproduction • Larger screen dramatically improves document and spreadsheet work • Smooth, responsive touchscreen performance • AMD Ryzen processor delivers snappy everyday responsiveness • 512GB SSD provides fast application loading and boot times • Excellent multitasking capability for Office, browsers, streaming simultaneously • Extended battery life supports full work and school sessions unplugged • Convenient portability for students and home-based workers • Slim, lightweight chassis without sacrificing screen real estate • Responsive keyboard and trackpad for comfortable input • Wi-Fi 6 connectivity ensures solid network performance • Modern Windows 11 operating system experience • Quiet operation during typical workloads • Outstanding value relative to ultrabook pricing • Ideal for productivity, streaming, web browsing, and learning THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF: • RAM is soldered and not user-upgradeable • No path for future memory expansion • Limits appeal for heavy multitaskers planning long-term growth • May become constraining as software demands increase ... show more

  • Would Buy Again
Bought this one for my wife. Keys are still hard for someone with sight problems to see. Not possible to see the function keys. Other than that it is everything HP said it was/is. Setup was not as easy, needed to be more clear on instructions especially if setting it for someone else.

  • Beautiful 2K Display, Fast Everyday Performance, and Excellent Battery Life! Beautiful 2K Display, Fast Everyday Performance, and Excellent Battery Life!
This HP OmniBook 3 has turned out to be an excellent laptop for everyday home, school, and office use. It feels modern, responsive, and very well-balanced for people who want a dependable machine for productivity, streaming, web browsing, and multitasking without spending premium ultrabook prices. The first thing I noticed was the display. The 16-inch 2K touchscreen is bright, crisp, and genuinely beautiful to look at. Text is sharp, colors are vibrant, and the larger screen size makes a huge difference when working on documents, spreadsheets, online classes, or even just watching movies and YouTube. The touchscreen is smooth and responsive as well. Performance has also been very solid for normal daily use. The AMD Ryzen processor paired with the fast 512GB SSD makes the system feel snappy and responsive throughout Windows 11. Boot times are quick, applications open fast, and multitasking with Microsoft Office, web browsers, streaming apps, and school projects feels effortless. For budgeting, paperwork, online meetings, and general productivity, this laptop handles everything comfortably. Battery life has been another pleasant surprise. It lasts long enough for extended work or school sessions without constantly needing to stay plugged in, which makes it very convenient for students or anyone working around the house. Other nice features include: * Wi-Fi 6 connectivity • Slim, lightweight design • Responsive keyboard and trackpad • Fast SSD storage • Modern Windows 11 experience • Quiet operation during normal workloads The only real downside is that the memory is soldered and not upgradeable. For average users this probably won’t matter much, but heavier multitaskers may wish there was room for future RAM upgrades. Overall though, this is a fantastic laptop for students, home users, remote work, budgeting, Microsoft Office, streaming, and everyday computing. Bright display, responsive performance, fast storage, and long battery life make this an easy 5-star laptop for its intended use. ... show more

  • HP OmniBook 3 HP OmniBook 3
The HP OmniBook 3 is a decent laptop. It has a nice touchscreen and a large touch-pad. It is light and easy to carry. The graphics are crisp and videos look good and it loads everything reasonably quickly. However, the bios is very basic and the soldered in ram means I cannot upgrade the ram from the puny 8gbs. The computer was loaded with bloatware and it took a couple of hours to fix. The price is in my opinion too high since I could find other HP products for hundreds less. Do I like it? Yes, it is a capable basic computer. ... show more

  • You must charge on arrival You must charge on arrival
This HP laptop is delivered new with a charger but any charger that delivers a minimum of 65 watts and a usb-c cable rated for that power will work. Watch the led indicator next to the usb port and do not press the power on button until it turns white. If it flashes yellow (or dosen''t light at all) either your cable or charger is inadequate or there is some other charging problem. If it glows solid yellow, it needs more charging time. To be safe use the included charger. This is a solidly built, somewhat hefty, entry level HP laptop. It should serve your needs for some years if you treat it with care and keep it charged. The demands of AI for memory means the years of cheap laptops has ended but this machine has satisfied the rigorous security demands before Windows 11 will even install. You should feel safe surfing and emailing but always use care and practice vigilance for phishing and other malicious emails. The great part is that the 2k display looks really beautiful. We mostly run chromebook and win10 and whenever I see a Windows 11 display I am struck by the beauty Microsoft has finally achieved. The full color, constantly updated photos from around the world are an inspiration for me and this screen shows them off nicely. Unless you are a gamer, developer, or serious video editor this should serve your needs well in terms of performance. Having both a cpu and gpu it is amazing that the battery life can be so long on a single charge. (full disclosure: I retired from HP nearly 20 years ago) ... show more

  • This is a really great laptop
I love this laptop, and I have been able to make my like like 10 times easier because now I can take all my work with me when I go places. It has a really nice touch screen feature, which makes it really easy to press play on videos or record voice memos. There's a few different types of ports that you can use to plug in and connect devices. The load time and overall performance when I restart is about average, but not as fast as it good be. Still great overall and great deal for how much it costs. ... show more

  • I really liked this laptop until a couple of weeks later. I really liked this laptop until a couple of weeks later.
My, how things have changed in laptops in the last 10 years! I was so excited to get this new laptop and it didn't disappoint. It is very thin and very light. There are ports aplenty on this laptop including an HDMI port. The keyboard is fairly standard. I would have liked it to have been backlit though, especially at this price point. There are 4 ways of moving the cursor on the screen, touchpad, mouse, keyboard and of course touchscreen. The touchscreen is very responsive. But you do need to provide your own mouse. The only inclusion with this laptop is the power cord/charger. The screen is a nice quality. I love that it is huge at 16". I have been watching a lot of videos on my new laptop and the picture quality is very good. The sound quality is awful though. The volume is very low, even at 100%. My mom's old tv has better speakers, and they are very low quality. I guess I'll have to get some Bluetooth speakers for it. It boots up really quickly, I mean fast! (This is until weeks later and the boot up started getting sluggish. I hadn't even really used it or loaded anything on it.) Be warned, when I started setting up my new laptop, it has free trial offers and recommended add on's coming up every time I tried to advance in my setup. It is still popping up offers weeks later. It is irritating because I can remember when computers were actually preloaded with those same software and apps. At this price, a basic version of Word should have been on it in my opinion. At least the performance of this puppy seems to be good. I am still learning how to get around on Microsoft 11, but so far, it seems pretty basic. One feature I really like is the camera lens has a shutter. I can remember I used to have to put tape over the camera. Simple things thrill me sometimes. All in all, this is a nice basic computer, except for the speakers. No real bells and whistles. Ok, my opinion has significantly changed about the battery. The first full charge went great, after that it takes forever to charge and never got back up to 100%. If I was lucky after 2 days of charging, I might get 60% on the battery. I even went into forums to see if I was doing something wrong or if I could do something about this dilemma. Nothing worked. I just don't understand why it would work great and after a couple of weeks go into a nose dive. Very disappointed! ... show more

  • This meets my needs nicely, but less than the claimed battery life This meets my needs nicely, but less than the claimed battery life
Rather than replacing my ancient desktop pc with another desktop, this laptop will be more of a "desktop replacement". I had grown a bit tired of always being "tethered" to the desk and I'm enjoying the freedom to move this pc around as desired. Given its larger size though, I will tend to leave on my desk. So far this HP does everything I need it to. At first I thought the battery was totally flat since it wouldn't turn on. It was only after plugging in the charger that it started up. The battery already had a decent amount of charge, so I guess this was just a requirement for the first boot up. Unsurprisingly, Win 11 took quite some time to accomplish all its updates. I have no complaints about the keyboard. I do like the large trackpad but the whole combination will still take a bit of getting used to. The screen resolution, brightness and color all seem quite good to me. I also like the texture of the plastic case. My only real criticism would be battery life. The product details say 14hrs, but I don't get anything like that, perhaps only about 7hrs. I don't find this an inconvience, it's just well short of the claim. I don't do any gaming or video editing; my most demanding task is editing raw file images using Darktable. After spending some time editing, this pc is more than sufficient and has none of the processing delays my old desktop did. I primarily use Ubuntu Linux and the latest version 26.04 booted just fine from the usb, and worked without any issues. After a time, I'll switch over to Linux. So far this pc is working out well for me. ... show more
