This thing makes noises for 10 minutes like it's about to print. Then it finally prints. What is it doing in there, deconstructing the paper down to its molecular components and reconstructing it? Print my blasted page already!

    • I could not hate this printer any more.
This was an emergency buy during the height of the pandemic, so my first complaint is that is was super expensive. It will not print if you need a Windows update, at all. So you have to stop what you were in the process of doing, download then restart, so freaking annoying. It's slow, and loud. The instant ink is a joke -- I'm not paying by the page, that's why I bought a printer, whose bright idea was that, way to milk it HP. There are no 3rd market cartridges yet, so ink is expensive. It is huge, don't rest your paperwork on top of the scanner as it will make annoying noises until you remove them. Not pleased with the scanning software at all. Overall it feels as though it will break soon as most of the components seem to be made of cheap plastic. The print quality is okay, but not amazing for all the hoops you have to jump through just to print a page. Imagine having to do a quick print, then spending 30 minutes wondering why your printer won't work again at least once a week. It's maddening. I will never purchase another HP product, that's how much I hate this printer, they are on the list. ... show more

    • Amazing printer for the price.
Very easy to set up, the touch screen makes it very simple and efficient to use, if you active the free ink on hp smart, you are only allowed to print 100 pages a month, other wise you are charged a dollar per 10 pages which I was not aware of before hand.

Bought this printer on a family recommendation because our previous Brother laser printer wasn’t user-friendly enough for my wife. Huge mistake. The included micro-cartridge of black ink ran out within two weeks and because the printer doesn’t acknowledge that it’s empty yet, HP Instant Ink won’t send me a new one. Currently trying to figure out how to manually order one with out paying full price for it, since it’s supposed to be free, but HP’s customer support is beyond useless. Please don’t buy this printer.     • THE WORST PRINTER
Let me start by saying I purchased this printer in April 2021, this review is being written in August 2021. This printer is garbage and HP's "support" is even worse. The printer will show "connected" but when I to to print, it isn't actually connected so I have to shut it down and boot back up at least twice to get it to connect. Then I get messages that say 'Encryption Credentials Expired' randomly. After spending hours trying to get in touch with someone at HP about these issues, they first blamed my computer stating the issue is my operating system, not the printer (I print to non-HP devices without any issues), then it was my internet, then they stated they can’t find the device serial number in their system which they confirmed at the beginning of the call as covered by warranty. I get these issues 3-5 times a day, every day and have to completely reboot my entire system every time just to print 1 page. I print to Ricoh, Brother and Zebra printers without any issues but this HP is nothing but problems. Additionally, the paper tray is an absolute pain to deal with and doesn’t hold the paper securely so when it does decide to print, the images are not straight. It's a bit of a pain to do standard things - I don't like that I have to install additional apps to scan with, for example. And the "bonus 12 months free ink" is sham to get you to sign up for their program that's over priced and not a good fit for everyone. The ink in general for this machine is way over priced and the page counts on the cartridges are not accurate. ... show more

Straight out of the box it sent a “paper jam” error and on the screen was a pending “printing” that would not go anywhere. Never worked brand new. We returned it the same day. Do not waste your time or money on this boat anchor.

    • Good printer for the price
For as little printing as we do, I didn't want to spent much. But, the printing we do is important, so I wanted good quality. This printer has met our needs well. Too early to speak to its longevity, but I do think it's a good choice for those needing something similar.

    • Does not work. Waste of time and money!
Ordered this printer. I couldn't get it to work. Hired someone to work on it for 2 hours, and it still wouldn't work. Bought a cleaning kit from Amazon $25. Guy comes back and he still can only get it to print in only 1 of the 3 colors, Sent it back, but I am still in the hole for the money I spent trying to get it to work, plus a ream of paper.
