Having had the best luck with HP products over the years there was no question in my mind what brand I'd purchase when I decided to get a brand new desktop [I've been using primarily refurbs the last few years] .. and as expected, I'm glad that I stuck with HP. Out of the box this desktop has more than enough processing power for the average user, though I'm not sure that I'd recommend it for intense gaming as the power supply & graphics are a little on the weak side for that sort of thing. I do a lot of video editing and this system works well for what I do [primarily under 1 min videos] but anyone needing super high quality [professional] videos you'll want to go with the TE01-1020 model and upgrade the video card. The speed of this computer is quite fast, and doesn't skip a beat when the turbo processor kicks in [the base is2.9GHz] up to 4.8GHz .. ALSO [and this is very important if you're planning to switch to Windows 11], out of the box this model DOES meet the requirements for Windows 11 [I'm one of the beta testers] due to begin rolling out in early October 2021 ... and I'll also note that as well as this PC performs out of the box, the upgrades in W11 make this PC perform even better. Overall, this is a great computer for the average user. It's not loaded down with bloatware, HP support has an app preloaded that is actually very useful, and unwanted preinstalled apps are easily removed. Anyone shopping around for a new system at a reasonable price [especially for the purpose of running Windows 11] should definitely take a look at this one! ... show more

Intelligent choices made by Amazon in constructing a good general purpose PC. I suspect it is not optimal for gaming as you might have to change the power supply and video card, but for everything else, including SW development, it is excellent. I had problems with my unit and learned that when a PC is new and within the time window to return it, do not mess with Customer Service, return it and buy a new one. My NEW Envy was locking. (Had to do a hard reset to recover control.) I trusted HP was professional and had my interest at heart. I will NOT make that mistake again. They had me mail my PC to them. I expected a new motherboard or just a new PC. Instead they replaced the fan. This means that my NEW unit was stressed thermally with an unknown long term effect -- it might fail after the warranty period because of the stress. The whole process took about a month. (Diagnosis with a tech on-line, mail box here, mail PC there, wait, fix, mail PC back) only to find that the DVD drive door was broken. New claim (even though I emailed HP same day it was returned.) Then mail box here, mail PC there, Mail back fairly quickly this time. Now, here's the second rub. The original door had a small spring installed making it work nicely. This spring cannot be replaced manually, so it was mailed back with a new door, but no spring (takes automated machinery to insert that spring.) So I lost over a month of usage, HP did not even offer to extend the warranty to cover the down time. The unit was stressed thermally to an unknown effect. The door works, but not as nicely as the original. So am I pleased with HP? Furious is a better term. I own four HP PCs (can supply serial numbers on demand) and an HP Deskjet printer. Over the years I have owned many more HP PCs and printers. I like HP equipment. BUT I now recommend that if anything appears wrong within the 'return' period, return it immediately and buy another. You will have less down time, less fuss, and a better result. ... show more

The HP Envy Te01-1022 arrived on my doorstep about a week ago. Took it out of the box, plugged it all in and pressed the power button. Beep-Beep-Beep (repeatedly) with a blank monitor. Turned it off, checked the installation. and turned it back on. Same beeping pattern with a blank monitor. Those out there who are computer savvy are probably saying, "It's a bad RAM stick, or one (or both) of the RAM sticks need to be reseated." You are absolutely correct. Before I endured the hassle and returned this computer, both 8 Gig RAM sticks were removed and carefully reseated. The computer booted right up and has worked perfectly ever since. I was immediately thoroughly impressed with this machine. Super fast and completely silent. My previous computer, also an HP (Pavillion), which I purchased in 2011 and still runs great, came with Windows 7, so getting acquainted with Windows 10 Pro took me a day or so (hey, what can I say - I'm an old guy), but I am fully up to speed with Windows 10 Pro at this point. I am not a hard core gamer so this computer more than serves my needs quite well. However, it's my guess that this computer would handle most games quite well. Would I recommend the HP Envy TE01-1022 to others ? Absolutely. ... show more

The PC is fast and works seamlessly now, but...out of the box it didn't start the Windows OS. Just got to the HP logo and then stayed with a dark display. After several tries on my own, I called Amazon's customer service and had to download a Microsoft file on my laptop and then, with a usb flash drive inserted on the new PC and restart, with no success. So the associate setup a call back to get me in touch with a HP technician the next day. The custumer experience was good (althought at times it was hard to understand the difficult accent from the associate, which I don't have a personal problem with it, but she needs to take a course in conversational English). The HP technician's resolved the problem fast. It turn out the PC only needed a "hard reset" and Windows came up and the usual initial setup for a new computer followed seamlessly. I read about the same problem in the reviews before I bought it, so I wasn't too worried, but this shouldn't happened. I have bought several computers for years, since PC started, and never had this problem, including with computer bought online. It wasn't damage. Maybe had to do with the mail handling or a shoddy work at the factory. The other thing is that the front usb plugs are a little off centered in the chassis or something like that because plugging any usb takes a bit of trying. Again, this shouldn't happen with a HP computer. Probably their selling it at a lower price due to these things. Anyway, the issues where resolved fairly quick and I got a high end desktop tower for an affordable price, so I'm satisfied. ... show more

Seeing how may last desktop was a 3rd generation I3 you can tell where I'm going with this review. This new computer is very fast. I love that it has both SSD Storage and a Standard Hard Drive together. I can keep the OS on the SSD where it is uncluttered and won't be competing with other files. All my files are now on the separate drive. I didn't give high or low marks for Tech Support because I haven't had to contact them. Everything set up flawlessly. The one thing I do have a problem with is the added software that is included. It's all fee based for Cloud Storage, Data Transfer, Anti Virus and so on. It can become pretty annoying. The preinstalled 1T disk drive has all the storage I need. I'm not much in to gaming. I mostly use the computer for Photo and Video storage and editing. Bit of an over kill for what I use it for but I love this machine. ... show more

I purchased to replace a used i7 second gen I was working on with a noisy graphics card fan. The add'l RAM and newer USB version make for quicker data transfer and generally faster performance. I had to replace a smart power strip due to the lower power consumption. This strip would turn off power to all peripherals when the computer turned off - monitor, speakers, etc. which did not need to be on after the computer is off. But this computer powers down slightly after it is on and it tricked the smart power strip into thinking the computer turned off and the monitor and speakers would turn off. I replace that strip with a newer "adjustable" strip that can be tweaked for the lower power use. (purchased on Amazon as well) The Bluetooth and WiFi were not a must, but some day I might need them and it is nice to have then and not install an after market board. I had a 3rd generation i7 with 64gb of memory. This computer puts that one to shame! I installed a video card and a 1.5TB additional hard drive. Installing the hard drive was tricky since they included a very SHORT sata power cable for the drives. I took the video card out of my old computer and installed it in the new one. It's a GeForce GT640. Nothing spectacular but it's an upgrade from the built on video card. My only complaint about it, is the fact that it only has 2 memory slots. I knew that when I bought it, but you would think that they would have chosen a motherboard with 4 slots. It takes less than 30 seconds to boot it up and has more than enough USB connections. It's hard to find a computer right now, and I'm glad that I chose this one. ... show more

This machine seemed nice until I started getting recovery screens on every third boot up. I can enter recovery mode and immediately exit to windows and the computer works normally. I contacted customer support. They had me create a boot-able USB drive to restart Windows and sent me instructions (in broken English) on how to restart Windows. I followed the instructions only to discover the problem was not fixed and Windows no longer could find my 'D' drive. At that point all they offered was for me to send my machine to them for repair but I had already loaded too many personal files. Not wanting to create a security risk, I decided to live with the computer in its crippled state. At lease it boots up fast 2 out of 3 times. In spite of the boot-up problem, it is quiet and uses little electricity (180 watt power supply). ... show more
