I use this as my machine in my writing nook. I generally keep the screen in portrait mode with an 15.6 inch external display attached via usb c also in portrait mode. It fits google docs with the outline view enabled without requiring me to scroll left and right to see the outline and the entire document. I installed linux developer environment and compiled Trelby (a screenwriting software) and its dependencies from scratch and it was very quick. In short, i love this machine. I dont really use the touch screen, but its a nice feature to have. The alternative was to build a mini linux system with a portrait display, but i much prefer having this device. HP really outdid themselves with this one. Sound is great and loud, bluetooth works flawlessly. ChromeOS is a great way to go for low maintenance, cloud ready devices. For $300 and change you absolutely cannot beat it. Having this device in my nook has amplified the way i work on my writing projects. Lots of storage, although i use google drive for most of my files. Detected my keyboard and expert mouse out of the box. ChromeOS is dead easy to use and can run most android apps without issue. If i wasn't a software developer, id likely have only ChromeOS machines. The screen is absolutely beautiful portrait or landscape. The mechanism that handles the orientation is smooth and doesnt make you worry while changing orientations with one hand. Orientation is autodetected and changed upon orientation change, with what ive found as minimal issues with apps when changing from portrait to landscape and back. The keyboard that comes with it is trash, as someone who uses mechanical keyboards exclusively. The mouse isn't bad, but i prefer my trackball. I normally don't recommend HP computers, but this device is great, it runs all things Google with easy, it's fast and better than my previous i5 windows all in one. This is not a gaming machine, I wouldn't treat it as such. But for your everyday computer use, this is a must. The rotating screen is the one of it's biggest selling features.
