Purchased the 17.3" AMD Ryzen 7 4700U model, 16GB of RAM and 512GB PCIe (NVME) HDD. Don't let the basic plastic exterior fool you into thinking this is a sub-par, Walmart special. This laptop is loaded with quality hardware. The 17" model is definitely on the large side for a laptop, so I'd recommend this laptop be used as a desktop replacement in a home office, used somewhere that it will permanently reside, more or less. If compact size and ease of transport are more important to you, look at the 15.6" models. Pros: * 1080p display * RJ-45 Gigabit ethernet (lacking on many current laptop models) * Most ports are on the LEFT side which is an advantage for wire organization * Upgradeable - bottom cover is very easy to remove for HDD and RAM upgrades * Dual channel DDR4 3200Mhz RAM (cheaper laptops are often single channel) * NVME/PCIe HDD - boots OS and apps lightning fast * PCIe 4.0 main bus * Top-of-the-line AMD Ryzen 7 4700U 8-core mobile CPU. Many laptop models sporting this CPU are more expensive and have less features. * No bloatware or garbage software preinstalled * Decent cooling...CPU and GPU run on the cool side, no overheating issues Cons: * The DVD-RW media drive is unnecessary. I replaced it with a HDD DVD tray caddy so that I could install another HDD. * Exterior is about as basic as it gets...black plastic chassis, no backlit keyboard, it's bare bones and not very durable * Only 3 USB ports so if you need more you're need to purchase a hub * The integrated Radeon GPU (Vega) is insufficient for hardcore gamers but adequate for light to medium gaming and performs well with the AMD Radeon Adrenalin drivers installed properly. Another drawback to be aware of...the HP graphics drivers. The HP OEM AMD Graphics drivers are absolutely terrible. The first thing anyone should do is download the AMD Cleanup utility from AMD's website and remove 100% of the HP display drivers (the AMD cleanup utility will boot the laptop into SAFE mode to completely get rid of them). Reboot once the garbage HP AMD graphics drivers are gone. Then download and install the full AMD Adrenalin Radeon drivers directly from AMD's website (21.5.2 is the current version as of this review). *** Make sure you block the AMD Display drivers through Windows update or you'll end up with even more problems if those install over the AMD Adrenalin drivers. *** DO NOT INSTALL THE AMD GRAPHICS DRIVERS FROM HP or the "AMD DISPLAY DRIVERS" from WINDOWS UPDATE. Overall a powerful laptop that should be more than sufficient for video/photo editing and light to medium gaming. I've posted bench results from 3DMark for reference on this particular laptop. ... show more

I am having an issue with the touchpad. It has become unresponsive most of the time. I contacted the seller on 2/26 and 2/29 and have not heard from them. Not good customer service at all. It is far beyond waiting 48 hours for a response. Very unhappy customer!

Comments and reviews are fine BUT read product description carefully to see if this is the one for you. I like this computer so far but it doesn't have an optical drive. No memory card slot. It doesn't have 2 usb ports on one side so can use external optical drive. It is fast and Screen size is as desired. So I won't return it. Overall decent laptop. ... show more
