Buyer BEWARE-These cartridges will not work after the warranty date - I'm out $150, HP doesn't care My practice has always been that when I put a cartridge in a printer, I order another one and put it in a drawer so I won't ever be caught without ink for my printer. I did just that and had a cartridge in my drawer. I went to install it and it has a warranty expires date on it. THAT IS TOTALLY FALSE. The warranty may be expired but what they fail to tell you is the cartridge won't work if installed after the warranty date. Odd, my car is out of warranty but when I get in it and turn the key, it still starts and runs. My washing machine is out of warranty, but again, amazingly, when I turn it on, I can still wash my clothes. Not the case with HP printer cartridges. When the warranty expires, they are programmed to not work and will not work. So now, I have a $150 ink cartridge that is brand new and full and I can't use it because HP arbitrarily decided it has an expiration date, what a joke. What is really upsetting is I read the whole box, the entire web page where you purchase the cartridges and NOWHERE does it say a cartridge will not work after the warranty expires. Shame on you HP, completely detestable business practice in my opinion. I would never treat my customers that way. I have a call into customer service and I'm waiting for a response, hopefully that they will send me a new cartridge but I am not optimistic at all that they will based on the run around I have gotten from customer support. I can say for sure, if I don't get a replacement cartridge, I will never purchase another HP product again. I have been a lifelong fan of this company and have probably purchased at least 30 HP computer and printers, but never again. Again I say, SHAME ON YOU HP UPDATE: I've called HP four times. First time via chat they told me my printer was broken and I needed to pay a support fee and talk to technical support. I asked the woman helping me how could the cartridge sensor be broken if it knows that the cartridge I put it was out of date and when I put the old one back in, it knew it was empty? Long pause and then I was told I would have to call customer support, she couldn't help me. So, I called customer support and the person who could barely speak English was very rude and told me I was out of luck and just go buy another cartridge. I told him I wanted to speak to a supervisor, he put me on hold. He came back on line, told me no supervisors were available and that one would call me back in 24-48 hours. So, I wait 3 days, of course, no return phone call. I call back again, this time to the number in Palo Alto, their corporate headquarters and I get put back into the offshore customer support department. This guy asked me where I purchased the cartridge. I told him I wasn't sure, I had purchased it a few years ago. He kept putting me on hold telling me he was trying to find my order. Oh, and by the way, I gave him my name and phone number and he could find no record of me trying to contact HP support, of course, why should I expect different. After about a half an hour of off and on hold while he looked for my order, he told me he had to do further research and would call me back the next morning. He told me his name was Ronnie, told me I didn't need a case number. Do you think he called me back? Of course not because HP doesn't give a rip about their customers and they are thieves. So, after a couple of hours on the phone with nothing but a run around from customer support, I'm still out $150 and I have a perfectly fine, brand new, right out of the box printer cartridge that won't work because of an arbitrary expiration date assigned by HP. I will never buy another HP product again. They steal from their customers and give them the run around when they are called out for it. Again I say, SHAME ON YOU HP, YOU ARE CRIMINALS THAT STEAL FROM YOUR CUSTOMERS AND YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS SO I AM NO LONGER A CUSTOMER. ... show more

Its much more cost efficient last so much longer and prints perfectly. I only use genuine cartridges. Keeps my printer lasting years. !!!

    • $150 bucks and the printer still says it's empty. I threw the whole printer in the garbage.
Support is non existent on the HP website. The 577dw printer never worked well with any of our Macs. Constant problems. And now I'm out the money for $150 cartridge that the printer thinks is empty even though its brand new and full. Gonna have an office space moment with the printer. Good times.

Mostly very good. I've ordered several times. The last one did not function after 50 % ink depletion but the new one is fine. Now we have a fourth one that fails after 30 prints each time. Questionable quality.
