I needed a MICR cartridge for check printing and wasn't about to pay the price they want for a genuine HP cartridge. *highway robbery* So I got this hoping it would work. It was great! I love it and it prints cleanly and nice.

    • Ordered two but neither one works correctly
I ordered one of these MICR cartridges for my HP Officejet model 200 Mobile Printer so that I could print routing numbers and account numbers on customized deposit slips for my bank. The ports in the original cartridge I ordered were plugged and would only leave a faint image on the slip. When the slip was passed through a check reader, none of the routing/acct characters were detected. Multiple attempts did not improve the quality of the printing or its recognition so I requested a replacement. The replacement cartridge printed correctly (i.e., the black ink seemed just like what a normal (non-MICR) cartridge would produce. When I ran it through the check reader, only some of the characters were picked up (about a third of them could not be recognized). I performed multiple passes and some of the missing characters would randomly be picked up but none of the passes yielded all of the characters. I even tried printing the values twice (2 passes through the printer) to see if more ink might improve the magnetic field strength but that had no affect. I contacted my bank and found out that the only approved printers and cartridges for this purpose are laser printers because the laser toner cartridges keep the magnetic particles evenly distributed in toner. MICR Inkjet cartridges, on the other hand, allow the magnetic particles to settle to the bottom of the ink tank instead of staying evenly distributed throughout the ink. This is apparently the reason they do not consistently provide a reliable ink that can be read by check readers. Based on this information, I tried to gently rotated the ink cartridge back and forth to see if I could get the magnetic material to distribute itself throughout the ink supply but that had no affect on the performance.     • Cartridge did not work, replacement did
I bought this cartridge for my HP Envy 5660 printer (HP 62 cartridges), installed it, and the printer would not accept it. I reinstalled it several times, rebooted the printer, still nothing. I've upgraded one star to three because replacement cartridge delivered quickly works fine.

    • it never worked
i attempted to fill out my own checks. the problem is the electronic check readers either at a store or ATM machines check cashing places etc none of those places were able to read the check, researched the product online and there are comments similar to mine. It sucks i need to get a refund
