I like this computer for overall performance and value. I have several small criticisms. #1. The buttons for power and the disc drive should be a bit wider. I find myself sliding my fingers around looking for the very slight protrusion to push it. #2. Two USB ports on the back and Six on the front? I am useing a USB port on the back so I can have my keyboard and mouse plugged into that. I have my printer whos wifi connection doesn't work anymore plugged into the second one. #3. What six items would anyone ever have plugged into the front all at the same time? I also bought a USB plug in card reader for camera cards etc. I did buy this for a home computer so maybe a business would like lots of cables coming from the front of the computer instead of the back, I don't know. Just a curious thing to me. The computer was very easy to set up. I liked that it had a VGA plug on the back so I am using my old monitor. It works very smoothly and much faster than my 20 year old Pavillion. I would have bought another Pavillion but this was considerably cheaper and with all those USB ports what could I possibly not add on? Edit: I have discovered that the top 4 USB ports (the bottom 2 can't be used for charging) have limitations of charging that my Pavillion did not have. Two times now I have found my computer off when it was not turned off. Both times it had to be unplugged and plugged back in to get it to turn back on. I believe there is a protection circuit being tripped in the power supply. Both times this has happened I was charging rechargeable headlamps. I believe the current draw of these headlamps is too high for the power supply of this computer. This speaks to the lower level of durablilty of this computer over my older Pavillion. ... show more

I needed to replace my HP desktop that quit after almost 15 years. That shows you the reliability of HP computers. Plus I couldn't upgrade to Windows 11. I saw this HP desptop which uses Windows 11, more processing power with six processors, and more RAM plus SSD capabilities for half the cost of my last HP computer. I added one internal HD and one external HD for my business applications, which was easy to do. Since I had an older VGA monitor, this computer had both VGA and HDMI monitor interfaces. The VGA monitor still has good resolution. If the VGA monitor quits, I can buy a new HDMI monitor as a replacement. The keyboard and mouse were the wired tpes, which I preferred. I uploaded several older apps and it has worked flawlessly. The other nice thing is I should be able to upgrade to the next several Windows OS, which is another great benefit. Amazing that even the size was 1/4 smaller than my last HP computer. After one week of use, I'm very happy with this HP 290 G4 desktop computer! ... show more
