The side is a standard size I believe but it doesn't matter since anyone can ride it. ***Update to previous review*** I did an exchange for the exact same item. For a week, it worked perfectly and I was ready to change my review. And then, the charging port came completely out of the hoverboard with no way of possibly fixing it. It still works and it still charges, but the charging port is hanging out of the hoverboard and literally hanging on by a thread. This can’t possibly be safe to continue to use! So the review remains at a 1 star, but should definitely be zero. Buyer beware! We received this hoverboard today and right out of the box, upon plugging it in, it won’t charge. The indicator light is flashing red/green and never goes solid. It has been plugged in for 3 hours and still the exact same, even moving to different outlets in the house. Huge bummer! ... show more

Excellent!!! My 9yr old really wanted this for his birthday and even though he is a beginner he took right off! Even my four-year-old daughter was able to do it easily! The board makes it super easy for beginners to balance. They love it!

Charging cable is comically cheap, fragile and hard to use with only the tiniest of lights to indicate whether charging is working or completed. Almost surely this will eventually break and it's a proprietary connector, not USB or anything clever. Charging is also very slow through this super thin wire. Also the unit has a strong smell, almost like gasoline when new and it's been a day and it hasn't fully dissipated yet. Otherwise this is perfect. Stable, plenty for a child to learn. Plenty fast too. Well made except for the charger. I'm sure we will be upgrading to something more thoughtfully engineered, but you get what you pay for.. ... show more

My husband and I bought this for our 12 year old son. It was easy to unbox. Charging is decently fast, but the battery doesn't last too long. It works for my son because he likes short lived activities, but for someone who plans to spend time traveling further distance than a mile or so, I recommend a hoverboard that is a bit more powerful and holds more battery than mentioned in the specs for this product.     • Broke After Two Months/Hover-1 Customer Service Awful!!!!!

My son's H-1 Drive lasted a whopping two months. The hoverboard will not hold a charge and does not turn on. I tried resetting it but that did not do anything. What is most upsetting is that I contacted the manufacturer via their support site over a week a go and still have not heard from them besides and auto-generated email. I know people are understaffed so I have giver them a bit of leeway but 8 days of silence is a bit much in my opinion. In the mean my son's birthday present sits in the corner of the garage taking up space. For the money this product should work longer than a two months but more importantly I have received zero support from the manufacturer. My advice, look elsewhere when purchasing hoverboard. I am very disappointed in the lack of support I have received. Update: I tried to make a warranty claim. I understand that people are understaffed so things take time these days but after sending my product information and documentation I got complete radio silence. After 11 days and two emails to the manufacturer I finally contact Amazon. They were kind enough to let me return it for credit. Not a great product but really terrible customer service.
