I bought this for my 21 yr old daughter as a Christmas gift. She said it was very nice n hot better than the name branded 1 she has , it makes her hair so shiny , perfect for thick n curly long hair! She doesn’t live w me so it’s hard to get a pic but I’m satisfied n pleased that she is n even more that the straightener was so affordable n it does an amazing job. Color is ok. This is an upgrade from the one i had right before this but I have definitely had better. This worked for giving me waves on my short hair so much better than my last straightener. This one actually grips your hair without as much fall out when working on the back of my short hair. The hair stays in and looks healthier than my previous. but when i went to straighten my hair, i was not impressed. I had a wonderful one i bought at an outlet mall when i was in college. Our house flooded and i lost everything. Someone gave me the one i have been using and it was horrible but it was better than nothing. It straightened but didn't give me silky shiny look, just straight. I love Hot Tools. I have a curling iron and a blow dryer and i LOVE them. This one didn't do it for me but like i said a step up from my last. Slowly building my hair care products as we can afford them. Is this supposed to have a lock feature??? ... show more

I purchased this flat iron, after reading the reviews. I also purchased it until I was able to buy the more expensive brand I wanted. First, the pros are: The flat iron reaches the selected temperature quickly. The buttons are placed where you will not accidentally change temperatures or turn off the flat iron. The plates are smooth and do not snag the hair. The cons are: It may be a defect, but in my opinion, the temperatures are not accurate. In comparison, my previous flat iron, when set at 430°F., made my hair so hot that I could not touch my hair immediately after a pass, and the straightness lasted. This flat iron does not get that hot when set on 430°F, and my straightened hair does not last, even with minor humidity. Today, I finally set the temperature to 450°F (which I have never done with other flat irons), and my hair turned out smoother than before. I should not need to set it this high to achieve the lasting straightness I want. I do not recommend and would not purchase again. ... show more

This iron heats up surprisingly fast -- much faster than any other I've used before -- and the surface has a soft matte finish that's really nice to the touch. Switching between temperatures is also really fast, although it does take a while to cool down. You have to hold down the power button for a few seconds to turn it on or off, which confused me at first, but once I figured it out I realized this is a great feature since it keeps you from accidentally turning the iron off while you're using it! I do wish it had a way of closing or locking other than wrapping the cord around the base while holding it closed, but considering the low cost and high quality I don't really mind. This brand was recommended to me by my stylist, and I'm really glad I listened to her! ... show more
