This iron heats up surprisingly fast -- much faster than any other I've used before -- and the surface has a soft matte finish that's really nice to the touch. Switching between temperatures is also really fast, although it does take a while to cool down. You have to hold down the power button for a few seconds to turn it on or off, which confused me at first, but once I figured it out I realized this is a great feature since it keeps you from accidentally turning the iron off while you're using it! I do wish it had a way of closing or locking other than wrapping the cord around the base while holding it closed, but considering the low cost and high quality I don't really mind. I bought this for my 21 yr old daughter as a Christmas gift. She said it was very nice n hot better than the name branded 1 she has , it makes her hair so shiny , perfect for thick n curly long hair! She doesn’t live w me so it’s hard to get a pic but I’m satisfied n pleased that she is n even more that the straightener was so affordable n it does an amazing job. Color is ok. I bought this to replace a 60 dollar straightener I had for about 7 years. I was not disappointed. I paid half the price and this one gets hot almost immediately and works on my thick/course hair. Definitely recommend.

This iron heats up in seconds, a single pass and it is enough to straighten, it works wonders. It has a wide temperature range and is of good quality. I purchased this flat iron because I wanted a dual voltage one to travel with. This one says “Universal Dual Voltage” on the box but the first time I took it to Europe it quit working after using for just a few days! I really liked how it functioned while I was at home but sadly it didn’t work as advertised overseas! It’s too late to get an Amazon refund so that was a waste of money 😢 ... show more

The straightener came packaged well and brand new. I plugged it in, and turned it on (you have to hold down the power button) and it heated up in seconds to 400. The buttons are on the side of the straightener and I didn’t have any Problems with them being in the way or changing the temperature while in use. My hair is very thick and coarse Asian hair that dries slightly wavy. It only takes a single pass to get my hair really straight and probably 15-20 min to do my entire head of hair.     • Its okay, not great!
I like that this tool gets really hot. I don't like that there is no lock, and that it doesn't stay upright on the counter. It always falls over. Also, not as smooth as I'd like it to be. Sometimes it feels like it's ripping my hair out!
