This 30-lb biochar was not dusty and the granules were easy to mix with ingredients to charge it. Per another reviewer, it is much easier to use than crushing natural charcoal briquettes or creating biochar from scratch. Many online sources and YouTube videos explain how to innoculate raw biochar like this. I used a large galvanized tub and mixed the entire bag with humic acid, Azomite, kelp, a 25-quart bag of worm castings, flour, molasses and filtered water. Some people use compost, liquid fertilizers, fish emulsion, etc. Anyway, the slurry sat for two weeks to charge up.

I'm using this for soil conditioner. As it is a powder, It is not the kind of charcoal you can use to separate soil layers to assist roots, as with orchids, but is good to sweeten heavy soil. You save when you buy the big bag!
