  • An Outstanding Controller for Retro Gaming
This is an excellent controller, especially if you have larger hands or prefer a more modern feel compared to an original SNES controller. Buttons have a good tactile feeling, the D-pad is responsive without being mushy. Shout-out to PinkKittyRose on Twitch for recommending this!

  • Works great with RetroPie/Raspberry Pi; 10-foot cable via USB connection!
I got the HORI Pokken controller based on a tip that it was a sneaky option for RetroPie on Raspberry Pi. I've never played a Pokemon game in my entire life, nor do I own an Nintendo Wii U. However, the HORI controller is compatible with PC and RetroPie, and probably other things that have a USB jack. I tried it out and it was immediately recognized by RetroPie. This controller has a lot of positives going for it. It feels more durable and responsive than a lot of the sub-$15 controllers floating around online (though some of those work fine, too). It has a Playstation-style grip handles that may be preferable for some with larger hands. The face button layout is similar to a SNES controller, and the D-pad feels great. There are two very large shoulder buttons that are impossible to miss. Best of all, it has a 10 foot cable, which is about 4-5 feet more than you get with most other wired controllers. So you get minimal latency (or connectivity problems) but enough range not to have to sit on top of your 50" flatscreen. I would say that the feel of the controller takes a little getting used to, and may not be for everyone. The handles are bulky to the point that they sort of force your hands outward, so you are pressing the buttons at a slight angle compared to a traditional NES/SNES controller. And the Start/Select buttons are small and in a different place than you'd expect. But these are relatively minor gripes, and it's an excellent general purpose controller for retro gaming. ... show more

  • It's a good product with an arcade controller.
The grip that fits your hand well and the crosspad also shows a great sense of operation. Above all, I love the great transplantation of arcade controllers. Thank you so much~

  • I think this controller is awesome! For one
I think this controller is awesome! For one, the Pokken Tournament Pro Pad (PTPP) has a very stylish and very sleek vibe going on; all white and with the red transparent strip running across the bottom. As far as gaming with the PTPP goes, I think its setup fantastically. The buttons are all spaced and placed very comfortably and the controller itself has a very nice weight to it (not too light, or too heavy). Another detail that I was very impressed with was the length of the USB wire that connects the PTPP to the Wii U. Its roughly TEN FT. long, minimum! There's no need to even go into why that is such good news (lol). HORI Pokken Tournament Pro Pad Limited Edition Controller for Nintendo Wii U And lastly, the price was not bad. I know that many gamers were upset over the PTPP costing $25 with it ONLY being usable with Pokken Tournament; but its a great game, and a great controller! And maybe these Pokken Tournament items were created with the hardcore Pokemon fans in mind, and being one myself, all I can say is... Well done Pokemon, well done!! =) ... show more

  • Amazing controllers for PC Emulation/Retropie Gaming
Amazing controllers for Retropie (plug & play) or PC games. Got two controllers for my Retropie setup, plugged them in, they were immediately recognized, and I was off to playing SNES/Genesis games with an amazingly high quality controller. I looked into the other third party SNES type controls but they were relatively priced and it's unreal how high quality these controls are. I have two Xbox 360 controllers but the D-pad on them just doesn't give the same precise movement that these do, which really helps for fighting games and competitive action games (Contra/Final Fight/Mario, etc.). Also, the larger buttons make it super easy to just bash away with no worries about which button you're hitting. If there is one strange thing about these controls it is the four buttons in the middle, so I'm constantly having to retrain myself that the buttons immediately to the left of the four main buttons are not Select/Start as they are further to the left. Still, amazing deal! Don't think too much and miss out on these...for ~$15.00 it's a no-brainer buy! ... show more

  • Works Great!
The design of this controller is simple and nice to look at. It clears away some of the unneeded things you would find on the Pro Controller/Gamepad when playing Pokken Tournament (analog sticks, ZL, ZR, etc.). It fits nicely in your hands and feels solid without being too heavy, which is great. It's also corded, so there's no input lag, and the cord is plenty long enough for me. There are other control methods for playing Pokken Tournament, like the Classic Controller, and Wiimote and Nunchuck, so it's not a necessary add-on by any means, but I'm still happy with my purchase, and glad I got one. This is a bit unrelated, but since people have said it works on PCs as well, I think the button layout and placement would be perfect for playing the classic Tomb Raider games on Steam or GOG. Update: Actually just tried it with Tomb Raider 1, and it works perfectly! My computer set it up automatically as soon as I plugged it in. If you're looking for a simple controller for older games, this one would be great for that. ... show more

  • If you wanna be a cool kid...
As I understand it, this controller is based of the arcade version. It does sure feel like it, but I'm not sure the design is optimal for this game. I occasionally have issues hitting the upper left and right buttons for burst attacks and support Pokemon but it's usually fine once you get used to it. Compared with using the gamepad I suppose it's better as it's less complex and more compact but maybe a pro controller would be better (I haven't tried that yet). Buying this lets me play against someone irl so that's cool so if that's what you want the controller for I think it's a good idea. If it's just for yourself, the gamepad will suffice but if you wanna be one of the cool people you can get the controller. ... show more
