I’ve been using this single-serve coffee maker with a built-in grinder for about a month. After replacing my old K-cup machine, I was looking for something with more flexibility. The machine offers several grind-time settings, which makes it easy to choose how coarse or fine I want the coffee grounds. It also has a variety of brewing sizes, so I can make just the amount I need. The water reservoir is large and removable, so I don’t have to refill it constantly. While it’s brewing, I haven’t noticed any leaks. It does make some noise during brewing, similar to my previous machine, but I don’t find it overly loud. Mornings are busy in my house, so I needed something quick. What I like about this coffee machine is the flexibility. Some days I use whole beans. Other days I grab a pod and move on. The built-in grinder is louder than brewing, but it only runs for a few seconds. Fresh ground coffee smells noticeably better first thing in the morning. I tried the different grind time settings. Around the middle range gives me a strong but smooth cup. It’s nice being able to tweak that without changing machines. The brew size options are practical too. I usually go with 12 oz, but on slower weekends I fill a bigger mug. The water tank is large enough that I’m not refilling it constantly. Cleanup is straightforward. I’ve used both the included drip bags and the reusable basket. The drip bags keep things cleaner, especially on rushed mornings. It doesn’t take up much counter space.

I have a K-cup machine that works well for me when I am by myself, and a drip coffee pot I can use when we have company over. But what I have not had is an electric coffee grinder. I have a manual one, but it seems like it takes FOREVER to grind enough for even a single cup. That was why I was excited about this coffee maker. It can use K-cups, it can use regular coffee, and most importantly, it includes a bean grinder that will grind the beans and then brew the coffee on the spot. This really does it all--K-Cups, single-serve brew, and freshly ground beans for brewing. It is also very beautiful to look at, and its narrow design means it does not take up a lot of counter space. It is not a perfect machine, however. There is a learning curve to it. I thought I understood how to make K-Cup coffee, only to get hot water all over the countertop. I had failed to insert the K-Cup holder into the coffee tray. I also had a hard time figuring out how to make sure I got only the correct number of ounces of coffee. It kept reverting to 14 oz, which overflowed my cup. But once I figured these things out, it is working like a champ. The only true negative now is the time it takes. My regular K-Cup machine keeps water hot, so when you put in a pod, it starts almost immediately. This machine does not seem to have a pre-warmer, so it has to heat each cup individually. It is not fast. There is no timer on the machine, so you need to wait a few minutes before the first--and highly important--cup is ready. But other than that, I am enjoying the machine and the coffee it produces.
