I’ve appreciated the peace of mind since buying this in 2018 to store important documents. However, in recent weeks it was very difficult to open and ever since then it does not lock anymore. Like, you can close it so it doesn’t fly open, but neither the code nor key will actually lock it. I enter in an incorrect code and get the red light, but it still opens right up. Expensive useless box. Very angry about this. I don’t have money to buy another one. My safe is broken- I barely went into it. I just decided to check it out because I was going to put some more items in it and the coded lock would not respond and then the key would not open it until after several try’s and now it won’t lock even after following the documentation. Exactly what I wanted. Fits in my drawer, works everytime. Only reason not to give 5 stars is that the batteries needed to be replaced already and I've had it for about a month. REVIEW EDIT. Had it at 4 stars, now 1. It doesn't work anymore. The safe doesn't lock. Well it does when you turn the knob, but to unlock it, you don't need a key, nor do you need a code, you just need 2 fingers to turn the knob. Pros: -Fits 8 1/2 x 11 pages just fine, even if in a folder or envelope. You can fit a huge stack! Like around 4", no problem. -Lightweight -Price for value -I like having the keys, just in case -Love that it has a handle Not so pros: -It says double wall construction, but the lid is an exclusion -Thought I read it was "waterproof" but there is no seal around the lid. You could add a seal to keep moisture out, but unless it's something that is fire rated it would just melt under heat. -Battery compartment cover is cheap. If it falls off (battery compartment is under lid so gravity works on it when lid is shut) then you'll need the emergency keys. -Only five digits on keypad so you'll have to create a code that likely isn't something easy to remember. This will force some folks into using a pattern, which is less secure. -Definitely easy to break into, but I only want to make it discouraging or time consuming before it is compromised. If you're serious about securing your valuables it might be better to use this box as a cheap decoy that you make visible in the house, then put your actual valuables under your mattress or in your sock drawer. :) ... show more

Worked great for about 9 months and then the other day I went to unlock it and it wouldn't unlock. The light turns green when I put in my code, but then it doesn't actually unlock. Obviously this isn't a high dollar safe. The price should tell you that. I'm fairly certain that it would be pretty easy for a thief to break into. That isn't what we bought it for. We just needed a place to keep some things we wanted in a safe place that our children couldn't get access to (they are very young) and to deter anyone that was looking for a quick grab. I like that you can use the buttons or the key. The buttons only go up to five, so that doesn't leave a whole lot of options for a code.
