having a circ mode and wif has saved me so much money already, the first year of having this i have saved 100 dollars on eltrictal, its on circ instead of always on which makes a huge difference and being able to turn my heat on as I'm on my way home is awesome

    • Requires an account to connect to your Wi-fi. No auto mode; cool, heat or off.
I bought this thermostat SPECIFICALLY because users said I could use it with my home automation system WIHTOUT connecting to the internet. Google searches gave ways to connect to Wi-Fi without using the app. WRONG! They have CHANGED their firmware. I was FORCED to download the app, create an account, and give my personal infomation including email and phone number, JUST TO CONNECT TO MY WI-FI!!!! And on top of that, the "smart" device has 3 modes: heat, cool, and off. What, no AUTO? Are you kidding me? If I were no going to sell this house soon I would return this junk. DO NOT BUY unless you have your phone blued to your face and don't mind someone else controlling everything you own through THEIR servers. I will be HAPPY to change this review if Honeywell/Resideo can resolve this. ... show more

It works pretty well. Was an easy install since it was replacing an old Honeywell unit...it just plugged in. Using the app makes setting up schedules much easier than on the device itself. It appears the temperature sensor needs to be calibrated since it is displaying 2° too low compared to 3 other thermometers placed next to it. I wish they would rename the app to "Honeywell" so it matches the name of the unit. In general, a solid purchase. ... show more

at first i was going to return them, but i had a bad c wire. fixed that and this blows away nest. i was on my second round with nest, and that died. i could spend a couple hundred with these or another 1000 for nest. i went with these, integrated with home kit perfectly. so easy to control, they got the geocoding down right, nest never could. they also dont play games with the temp, like nest did. i am so much happier, and i am saving over ring, by almost half. if i had to do it again, i would start with these and saved a lot of money ... show more

Touch screen control is awesome. You can access any menus with one or two times touches. I don't like a round thermostat as it is not intuitive as much as touch screen method. Compared with amazon basic thermostat made also by Honeywell, this is a more expensive version while the price is cheaper. Highly recommended. ... show more

    • Doesn't work with my system that they know of
I tried to install this thermostat in my new home. I've previously used a Sensi and thought it was the same process because I wanted something square instead of a rectangle. Unfortunately the wires labeled are not the same so I checked with Amazon CS but they could only refer me to Honeywell. I called Honeywell and they have no idea what the wires do. They suggested I either trace the wire into the hvac unit (I have no idea how since it's in a wall) or call the manufacturer of the existing system. It's just way too much work for a DIY system so I'm returning it. If it'll help anyone else, their options are: Left -- Y, Y2, G, C Right -- L/A (A), O/P, Aux (W20, E, WM K, R, Rc If your setup is different it may not work for you so save yourself some time. ... show more
