Bought this at a great price and so far, so good. Powerful and slightly noisy little heater but the noise does not bother me. Use it in the doorway of my bathroom and it heats the room quickly. Once the ceiling fan is on the sound of the heater is barely noticeable.

My home is generally warm enough, but in the coldest part of winter, the living room gets frigid. There's no insulation between the ground floor and upstairs, so all the heat rises, and the room has two whole walls of windows for what heat remains to leach out of. I have found myself not using the living room--where our only television is--because it's too cold. I had a small, cheap space heater for about ten years, but it died a couple years ago and I never replaced it...till now. I read a lot of reviews, and I decided that safety and quiet were more important to me than cosmetic issues or which heater is warmest. Really, it's just that my feet get cold. I ordered this model because it is cheap, has the tilt-shutoff feature for safety, and the information available was written in fluent English. I turned it on to the hottest setting and set it up about 4 feet away from my feet (see photo). At first I was ambitious. I tried kicking my slippers off to see if the heater would warm them all by itself. I nearly froze to death. Fifteen minutes later I tried it with my slippers on, but no fleece blanket. Five minutes in I was still cold, but after ten minutes it was better, and thirty minutes later I had forgotten there was ever an issue. Bear in mind that although the heater is pretty close to my feet, I'm in a large cold room. In fact, there are no walls between any of the rooms downstairs--roughly 1,000 square feet--except for the bathroom and closets, so in some ways this is a challenging set up for one small space heater. Nevertheless, after half an hour the thermostat indicated that the entire downstairs was three degrees warmer. Not bad. I accidentally tested the tip-over safety shutoff when I set it up. The electrical cord was hooked underneath the little stand that serves as a base for the heater, causing a tiny shift in stability, and I didn't see it. I turned it on and nothing happened. Is it defective? I wondered. Is it plugged in? I checked the plug, turned back around to look at the space heater, and then I saw it. I moved the cord out of the way so that the heater was resting completely flat on the table, and it turned on immediately. I felt comforted knowing the safety mechanism actually does work. In addition, the noise it makes is very soft. I can watch Netflix while this thing is turned on without having to turn the sound up. So, I won't go five stars here, because if a heater is four feet or less from my feet, I think I should at least notice that the heat is on right away. It was certainly toasty enough when I was standing directly in front of it, but once I made it to my chair and put my feet up, I stayed just as cold as before for a few minutes. But for the money I spent and in the room I used it in, I am satisfied with the value provided. ... show more

Still running strong 5yrs later. The Honeyell HCE 200W Heater is a must have in our household for winter and cooler months. We live in Texas where we like to spend our energy bill cooling during the summer and then running the heater as little as possible during the winter to average out our energy spend for the year. We bought two of these little heaters specifically for our bathrooms to make them nice and toasty for shower/bath time and those extended bathroom breaks after morning coffee. The heater is small and compact with a nice white finish which looks grate on the bathroom counter without taking up alot of your valuable space. The cord is long enough to run it down to the floor too if you have a pedestal sink. the controls on the unit are very intuitive and easy to use. It has a three position switch for Off, 1 Heater Core, or 2 Heater Cores. In addition, it has a knob on top controlling an internal thermometer cut off switch that will throttle the unit on and off to reach / keep the room at a constant temperature. Pro Tip* Use a smart outlet with the heater and set up a scheduled on/off time in relation to your morning routine for work. Example, I had ours set up to turn on 10 minutes before my morning alarm went off so the bathroom was preheated before getting out of bed and heading to shower. Made all the difference in the world for a pleasant morning :) ... show more

I bought 2 of these because I don't want to turn on my HVAC since it's not energy efficient. Positive --------- This little device does indeed work very well and heats up a sizable room fairly quickly. The thermostat also works well. There are 2 heat settings, I keep it at 2 only for a short period of time since the cable starts to heat up after some time, nothing worrisome bu better be safe than sorry. The rest of the time it's on setting 1 and it's more than enough to heat the room with no isolated windows when the outside temp is around at 35F so I'm really happy about that. Negative ---------- When you first turn on the device, it has a slight burn/chemical smell that goes away after a couple of hours. So I recommend opening your windows during that period. One other thing to note is that, when the device gets hot, the fan starts to buzz slightly which can be annoying, though when you tap it or move it slightly it stops the buzzing so I'm not worried about it, but that's the reason why I'm giving 4 stars. ... show more

I have three of this model: one quit working after aweek. I couldn't return it because I could find the order number anywhere. I decided to trash it and gave it one more chance; it worked for another week before it qui working again.

I live in a 23' travel trailer as a grounds-keeper and Washington weather tends to be on the cold-side near the ocean. I tried lots of different space heaters and with the constant usage they die out too soon. Small trailers need heat no matter what except on hot summer days which aren't that many in this state. I ordered this little heater and will never use any other. It's like that Energy Rabbit! Honeywell is the best! I also run 3 sub-compact Honeywell space heaters, one in my truck on really cold days/nights, one in my bathroom and one in the 'living' room. Cozy times. ... show more
