I find these hard to light and not that useful on their own. I do, however, feel like they help the smoker perform better when thrown in with other fuel. I put one or two in before I load with pine needles and it seems like they get smoldering good and maybe help keep the smoker lit when it sits unused for a few minutes. They do seem to work on their own if you just need to do some quick work, but I have to kind of tear them open and fluff them up to eventually get them lit.

I was expecting a larger item. These are about half the size of a double AA battery and will not suffice. I will be purchasing some pine shavings to use instead. Would not purchase these again.
