Actually used these hinges as a center support for 16-foot 2 x 4 toe boards while roofing my house. Two screws hold the rectangular part of the hinge to the 2-by, and an 8d nail secures the point to the roof. Works great.

The HOME MASTER HARDWARE 8 in Heavy Duty Decorative T Strap Hinge is beautiful and strong. We used 3 of them to hang a heavy door (~100 lbs). However, we did use different screws to insure we had no issues. They really make my garden shed look cute!
