  • Expensive, but it's worth the money so far.
I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and I have the space for a few carboys, but the yeast won't like the temperature since it is usually about 75 in here. It fits my 6.5 gallon glass carboy no problem and I am reusing the 64 oz apple juice bottles to keep my cider cool. It also has no problem with keeping it 15 degrees below ambient temperature when I change the bottles once a day, and I could wrap in in a good blanket if I wanted better insulation. The 2 zippers on the top move really easy and feel good. The white waterproof plastic on the inside looks like the same stuff that is in all of the lunchbox coolers and should be easy to clean. I estimate the usable space inside is at least 20" wide and 23" tall. It is roughly 23" to the zipper and should be able to fit a little taller if the top flexes out like a tent. I really like the way it looks. ... show more

  • Great investment for small homebrew operation
This brew bag is excellent. This is a 100% improvement on my old swamp cooling setup is is a viable, low cost alternative to a keezer. I just put a Belgian tripel in the fermenter and dropped my 7 gallon wide mouth fermenter in 6 days ago. The house is currently at 75 (January in Florida) and the bag is very easy to regulate. I started with a frozen 2 liter bottle of water for the first three days to keep the temp at 64 with plans on raising the temp into the 70s the final week. I had to switch to smaller freezer packs to keep the temp from dropping to 62 or below following initial fermentation. The great thing is that this bag insulates well enough to prevent big temperature swings and gives you time to make small adjustments. I change the ice bottles/packs about every 24 hours. This time of year I am confident that I could easily brew in the 50s and may attempt my first lager in this bag! I anticipate buying another one of these bags to keep the fermenters rotating through. I bought this because I didn't have the money and space for a dedicated beer fridge and was tired of the limited control of the swamp cooler. The only downside to this is that the top of the bag hits the airlock but with some care this is really a non issue. The bag comes with a shoulder carrying strap and I have carried the whole thing across the house with 5 gallons of beer in it with little trouble. Well worth the investment and very pleased with the ability to effectively control the temperature. ... show more

  • Worth Every Penny
Was in the market for a fermentation chamber to better control temperature for beer and ciders. Due to limited space and that brewing is just a hobby I didn't want to purchase a dedicated fridge/freezer. This cooler checks every box: Can fit my 6.5 gallon primary Temperature control Easy to clean Low maintenance Folds up when not needed Pictured is my first test run with a simple cider from day 1 and 3. Day 1 - Pre chilled the cooler with frozen jugs, placed 3 gallon carboy in and once to proper temperature pitched yeast. Day 3 - cooler is holding steady and following the supplied directions with frozen jug to ambient temperature ratio I'm staying within in the 60 degree sweet spot I was aiming for. As pictured the yeast is happy and healthy with room for another carboy or frozen jugs if needed. Two hygro/thermometers show ambient room and internal chamber conditions. Very pleased with this purchase! ... show more

  • Works as intended, UPDATED!
With just x1 4lb ice pack I can keep 5 gallons of beer at about 66-70° (ambient temp around 78°) I do not doubt having multiple ice packs can keep beer at a cold temp while fermenting (if brewing lagers) It fits my 6gal glass carboy with the air lock on top no problem with plenty of space for a larger vessel. Will be brewing lager soon and I will update how well it keeps colder temps compared to ambient temperature. Update: 12/16/24 I absolutely love this product. It’s a great tool to keep your beer at whatever temperature you desire. The colder I want the beer, the more ice packs (4lb Kona ice packs) I add. I successfully kept a lager cold enough throughout fermentation with absolute ease! Highly recommend for anyone who wants to keep fermenting beer cold but doesn’t want to spend money on expensive equipment. ... show more

  • Way better than expected....
Backstory: I saw this item on Amazon while looking for some specific homebrew equipment about a year ago and bookmarked in case I ever needed it. Fast forward to last week (9/20/19) I brewed a beer (a Pliny the Elder clone) for a friend's gathering. I normally ferment in my tv room in my basement, which stays 4 degrees less than the rest of the house. However, my son was in there and left the lights on, which are halogen, all night. Halogen lights create a LOT of heat. The room was warm and checking the fermentation temperature about 18 hours later, it was 81F. I had to take 2 kegs out of my chest refrigerator to cool the fermentation down but needed a solution moving forward...then I remembered the Cool Brewing Bag. Currently: I immediately ordered due to all the great reviews. It arrived in 2 days as normal. I immediately put my fermenting beer, which was at 63F, in the bag with (1) frozen 2L. I was amazed that 1 frozen 2L, which I changed daily, was able to keep my beer at 64F. My basement is at 70F and the Cool Brewing Bag stayed at 64F with ease. I just took the beer out of the bag to let it go up to 70F to finish fermentation, and the bag had little condensation in it that wiped out and it dried overnight. Easy! Using this will definitely be part of my procedure moving forward now that I don't have to rely on a cool corner of the house for a perfect temperature. I was thinking of building a fermentation chamber that ran on ice, or purchasing another small chest freezer with temperature controller, but this is WAY easier. ... show more

  • Worked great for half keg
Keep my half keg cold all day while outside during the summer! Great quality and had space instead to add plenty of ice.
