My first impression was that the artistic bamboo board was pleasing and attractive to the eye in both shape, attention to construction detail and glow that only natural bamboo has. There are many features to recommend this beautiful bamboo board. PROS: * Premium XL Bamboo Board arrives pre-oiled and well-wrapped to preserve the bamboo in tip-top shape. * Excellent craftsmanship throughout. Beautifully rounded edges with a well-honed groove to catch juices from meats, fruits and vegetables. * Eco-friendly board measures a generous 18.0” x 12.5" x 0.7”, larger than most other boards. The thickness of the board is impressive and adds heft and strength to the board. The board is available in several other large sizes. * Beautifully smooth and crafted natural bamboo surfaces throughout - top, bottom and sides. * Multi-use cutting board can also serve as a decorative natural palette for freshly-cut brownies or other 13” x 9” baking pan desserts. It serves as a lovely tray or charcuterie presentation for fruits, veggies, meats, crackers and cheese. * Bamboo is a natural, environmentally sustainable, 100% food-safe material that contains no harsh chemicals. The size is great and love the groove around the edge. However, the surface is not very smooth. It has fibers sticking up making it easy to get splinters while cleaning it with your hands. Maybe this will be resolved over time.

I have had my share of frustration with other cutting boards when managing and cutting stuff that implicate more liquids than desired and had to have a nearby cloth to prevent spilling into the cabinet or the floor. For me it is an asset to have in this cutting board those grooves ! It remarcably prevents me from spilling into the cabinet any liquids when cutting fruits, meats or vegetables. I love the the wood grain design; it is quite beatifull and another very positive thing is that this cutting board is very thick and heavy. In my experience, the bigger and heavier the better it can withstand blows while cutting hard stuff (I have lost some cutting boards because they did not withstand long term use) Overall I truly believe this is a very good buy. ... show more
