Style: Digital Control w/ Remote Size: 9 Inch
This thing is a beast and built like a tank. I’ve had it running 24/7 since the day it arrived, and it hasn’t even blinked. Built like a tank, quiet like a ninja. The remote is super simple to use (even in the dark half-asleep at 2AM), and the LED display? It kindly shuts off after a bit so it doesn’t light up your entire room like a rave. For the price? An absolute steal. No rattling, no overheating, no drama. Just clean airflow and zero fuss. ... show more

  • Digital Control w/ Remote 9" - Can Mute Beep - All Fan Lights Turn Off Automatically. Digital Control w/ Remote 9" - Can Mute Beep - All Fan Lights Turn Off Automatically.
Style: Digital Control w/ Remote Size: 9 Inch
update- Don't waste your money on the slightly cheaper options, the 9" Digital Control w/ Remote is the one to get. I've had this fan for months and run it day and night. It is excellent. This is a very well-thought-out fan for a bedroom. The only negative is it expands only on one side and doesn't stay in place well. I increased my rating to five stars. ------------------------ This is my Initial impression after buying and returning a few fans on Amazon. First some general fan comments. I've used a fan instead of AC in the bedroom for 30+ years. The quality of fans has gone way down. Previous brands I used that lasted 10 years do not last more than two or come defective. Don't trust old reviews, fans look the same but are not. Common problems are rattling or motor buzzing, which makes it hard to sleep or fans stop working in a year or two. The most common problem with a new fan is the blade being out of balance. If the blade wobbles even slightly the fan will start making noise after several weeks, often after the return window closes. This Fan: A nice design. It is pleasant sounding on the lowest setting. The volume of air is good, about what I'm used to. I generally don't use the remote but this one is nice and mutes the beeping sounds. The two lights are not overly bright and are only on for a few seconds when the fan is turned on or the settings are changed. Negatives: I have it mounted sideways and the expandable sides do not support weight well. Fortunately, I only had to expand the top to make it fit. The fan bottom is too wide to fit in the side groove of the window, so I had to use a metal bracket from a previous fan to make it secure. It would be nice if I could purchase a cover and a screen. I like this fan so far. I will see how long it lasts then update the review. ... show more

  • The remote is the best feature!
Style: Digital Control w/ Remote Size: 9 Inch
Love this fan so much! Living in an old house where the circulation is hard to achieve created a hunt for a good window fan. All the old ones I would buy had to be manually turned around to either pull air out or push air in, this one has a remote! Sometimes the small things are the best things, making life easier by switching between intake, exhaust or exchange with the push of a button, now... I can't live without it. The fan moves a large amount of air while being relatively quiet (it is a fan after all.) Three speeds means I am able to choose the airflow and the volume from across the room. It fits well in my small windows and the accordion sides allows for adjustment. I am grateful for a decent fan at a decent price that works exactly how I need it to. ... show more

  • Little Window Fan That Could
Style: Digital Control w/ Remote Size: 9 Inch
Originally purchased 9/24. The fan worked wonderfully and steadily up until last week when the left motor intermittently worked or delayed starting. Luckily it has a 3 year warranty and they issued a refund (working directly with manufacturer). So I am purchasing a replacement. Fairly easy to setup and take down if the window needs to be closed, making it relatively convenient once you become good at it. The remote control will conflict with other IR fans, so be aware of that. If there are more than one window, this does a good job of air flow and has a unique feature of air exchange if only one window is open. Shame it lasted a little over a year but happy it has a 3 year warranty (as of 10/2025). ... show more

  • Works well!
Style: Digital Control w/ Remote Size: 9 Inch
Love this window fan, it really do bring the cold air & ocean breeze from outside so most of the time no AC needed. I just enjoys natural air more than AC.

  • Moves a lot of air, quiet, and with intake/exhaust features, but this one didn't last
Style: Digital Control w/ Remote Size: 9 Inch
Having used Holmes Twin window fans for years we know approx. how long they will last. The majority of the ones we purchased were the older, non-digital display type which still had individual fan control as well as intake/exhaust settings. This, the newer Digital version had the same features, and worked great, while it did. Surprisingly, after approx. 3.5 months the left fan started slowing, making some noise, and then failed. Surprising as with our past purchases, Holmes fans lasted years without issue(s). Perhaps pre-failed from the MFG ?? Love the fan, amount of air it moved, quietness, and features. Have submitted a warranty claim at the GetHolmesFans.com website, and will update this review accordingly. ... show more

  • Outstanding. Highly recommend
Style: Digital Control w/ Remote Size: 9 Inch
I bought this for the laundry room window on the South side of our un-airconditioned house. I did not expect great results, but thought it would help keep it from being unbearable as we are coming into 100-degree temps this week. I haven’t used the remote yet - it’s in a very small room - so I’m not reviewing that. Pluses: Everything. Easy to install! just open the box, slide it out, pre-assembled, put it in the window, and plug it in. There are three settings on each side, one side for speed (low, medium, high) and the other for mode (intake, exhaust, exchange). Our house has no central air. We have a larger size room air conditioner in the center room two rooms away that is running on max cool with a tiny rotating fan in front of it to move the air around. We also have a Lasko rotating ion fan in the living room that is actually making it cold in that room. Effective: Right now it’s 92 degrees outside the laundry room window with the sun blasting through. The new fan’s settings are on High Exhaust, and the temperature in the room is very bearable and quite comfortable. The last three nights I had it on Low Exchange, and it was actually chilly in there in the morning with outside temps in the 50s at night and mid- to high 80s in the days. I honestly am blown away by how effective this fan is. I did put little pieces of white duct tape along the very thin cracks between the fan and the window frame on all four sides to keep micro bugs out. It is slightly loud, but that is irrelevant to me, and actually a plus considering where it is, so that’s okay. I did buy the three year warranty, just in case, and kept the box so we can store it away when it gets cold again. There are no negatives to it. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Disappointing - Will damage your screens; not good for slider windows at all. Disappointing - Will damage your screens; not good for slider windows at all.
Style: Digital Control w/ Remote Size: 9 Inch
Won't trust Holmes anymore: All my windows are vinyl sliders, and I have an older Holmes window unit that I use on summer nights to pull cool air through my lower level (in exhaust mode with distant windows open, it forestalls much of the next day's heat). That unit has been great for 20+ summers, and is still working. When I tried to find the closest new Holmes model to use for my upstairs rooms, this one seemed the obvious choice... WRONG. Why do companies always obsolete their best product designs in favor of absolute cr*p? Because I trusted the "Holmes" brand, I didn't attend to the negative reviews so much as I normally would before purchasing. While I haven't used this long enough yet to know if quality problems like many reviewers have experienced will also be an issue, just a few minutes of trying it out have me totally disappointed in this recent design. (See pics for contrast between the old model and new.) * Edges of the armature surrounding the fans are too thick to nest between a slider window casement and pane-stile properly - unit can vibrate and fall out of the window. The molded-in clips for attachment of the optional feet (when in free-standing use) make one side even thicker still. (Who buys a window fan like this to use free-standing anyway?) In the middle the armature is so thick it wants to push out the screen. Edges of the armature on the old model are tapered for mating with the casement and stile, and the whole unit is just enough thinner so as not to push the screens out. * The extension panels on either side are short, very flimsy, and do not lock in place securely. The unit is so heavy that the lower panel just collapses under it if you try to stand it vertically - which is required for use in a slider window. The older model has a longer, better made extension panel on one side, and a solid (removable) panel on the other, for vertical mounting. Without both panels the unit cannot seal into a slider window for use in exhaust mode. The product info SHOULD NOT state that this model works in slider windows! * The remote controls for devices like this are sold as a "convenience feature", but in reality they save the engineering/manufacturing costs of putting physical buttons and switches on the device itself - Otherwise, why not have both (you know, in case that dinky made-for-elf-hands remote should get lost or broken)? Not impressed. Especially since you need to stand right in front of a tiny IR-receiver diode on the unit for the remote to work anyway. Old model has nice big buttons. (Since I'm on the topic of poor 21st century engineering, what Gen-Z genius thought an "exchange" mode, where one fan blows outward while another just a few inches away blows inward, was an impressive functionalty??? Duh...) Info blurb said this was for "double-hung or slider windows". If Holmes had honestly stated that this product is NOT designed for slider windows, they could have saved me from a bad purchase, and themselves from another poor review. ... show more
