  • Great gimbal for your full size camera with versatility to handle smaller devices too!
The media could not be loaded. If you are looking for a gimbal for your camera, try this one! In addition to being great with your full size camera (check the compatibility list), it can also work with your cell phone, GoPro type action camera or smaller, compact camera. If you are only looking for a gimbal just for the smaller devices, Hohem has other products you should check out before this one. I was looking for one for my full size camera and I had a great experience with a prior Hohem gimbal so figured I'd try this one. My camera is a Nikon Z6ii and the pictures/video show it with a Nikon 85mm attached. I wasn't sure if it would work with my camera because my specs say it's just at the edge of what this gimbal will allow for weight and size but Hohem has a compatibility list and sure enough, mine works with a few different Nikon lenses including the 26mm 2.8, 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8. Going portrait mode with a camera this heavy was a bit of a challenge when it came to balancing it but you're going to run into that with any gimbal. I did get it balance though and it worked great. While being able to use the same gimbal for phone, GoPro or Camera is great, keep in mind that setting up and balancing from one to another takes time so it's tough to change quickly from one to another on the fly. Again, that's going to be the same with any gimbal. Get this for your camera and know you can also use it for your other devices when needed. Whichever device you are using, take your time balancing and you'll be happy with the result! This comes with everything you need to start. Phone connector big enough to handle any cell phone out there. GoPro connector as well! Then a solid camera mount based on the Arca-swiss mount to be used with many cameras out there. All mounts can go portrait or landscape. Comes with a tripod base that folds together to become an extension handle when filming on the fly. AI vision sensor with fill light is included as well and it works incredibly well. A simply OK hand signal starts the tracking and single hand-up "stop" signal does just that, stopping the tracking. Makes single person use incredibly easy from the get go. Depending on the camera, you can connect via bluetooth or hardwire (they have a bunch of hardwire connections included). Different cameras will allow for different controls but whether you are filming someone else or just yourself, this system works great! As with most products the written instructions don't cover a lot but they have QR code links to a tutorial with multiple helpful videos for mounting and balancing any item as well as the Hohem App. All of this packed into a sturdy case and they even throw in a cleaning cloth. Charging is through a USB-C. Charges quickly and lasts a good long time. Will even reverse charge other devices if needed. Though I'd only use that in a pinch, it's a nice little feature. There are lots of ways to adjust the mounting system. I've seen some reviews where they say you can't balance something as directed but I'm betting you could if you simply moved the adjustments a little. I experienced that same issue until I realized it was slid in too far or not far enough on one part of the mount so once I adjusted that, I had the full range on the other part of the mount. Mess with it a bit and you'll learn how to adjust the mount quickly enough to reach balance. There are multiple steps involved but once you have it balanced, even a full size camera works perfectly well. To get the pictures for this review it tried 3 devices and changed from landscape to portrait for each. That little bit of work got me pretty adept at balancing. If you are looking for a gimbal for your camera, just check the compatibility list and give it a go. You won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • A truly universal gimbal with everything you need right in the box
I bought an Hohem iSteady M6 for my phone a while back. I really liked that gimbal, but being designed specifically for use with a phone, I still had to carry my much larger, designed-for-a-DSLR gimbal along for the ride if I thought I might want to film with something bigger ... and then I found out about the MT2. This gimbal is only about 100G heavier than the M6, but supports THREE TIMES the payload. At a max payload of 1.2KG (about 2.6 pounds), this will be able to handle a wide variety of mirrorless cameras as long as you don't plan to use too crazy of a lens. As a point of reference, my Panasonic DMC-GX85 (which is on the small end of things) clocks in at about 1LB, leaving me plenty of payload for any lens I own. Balancing was a snap. Yes, I have a few gimbals, and yes, I've done it a few times ... but this was still on the easier end for me. Already knowing what I'm doing, and without reading the instructions, it took me under 30 seconds to balance a phone in the included mount. Slightly harder to do than a gimbal that's purpose-built for phones only, but a small price to pay to gain the capability to host a mirrorless on the same unit. The AI sensor included in this is very same one that can be purchased as an add-on for the M6. It very well here (as it does on the M6), but keep in mind that you'll need to adjust the vertical offset to get it to center you in the frame -- consult the instructions for that. Like the M6 the sensor is magnetic and can be rotated, enabling it to function in both selfie mode and for use with the camera pointed away. This is also the first gimbal I've bought that's come with everything I need in the box to use it with every camera I own. It has all of the adapters needed to mount a phone, action cam, compact, or mirrorless camera in landscape or vertical orientation. I tend to buy cheap adapters, so I'm especially appreciative of this, as the included adapters are of a better quality than the add-ons that I've gotten myself in the past. Overall, this feels very much like a big brother to the M6 ... which is a good thing. While barely adding any additional heft to the gimbal, Hohem has managed to make a unit that can easily handle a wide variety of phones, mirrorless, and compact cameras. A lightweight gimbal is a big win for my arm's endurance, so I'm pretty excited about that. ... show more
