  • Great gimbal for your full size camera with versatility to handle smaller devices too! Great gimbal for your full size camera with versatility to handle smaller devices too!
If you are looking for a gimbal for your camera, try this one! In addition to being great with your full size camera (check the compatibility list), it can also work with your cell phone, GoPro type action camera or smaller, compact camera. If you are only looking for a gimbal just for the smaller devices, Hohem has other products you should check out before this one. I was looking for one for my full size camera and I had a great experience with a prior Hohem gimbal so figured I'd try this one. My camera is a Nikon Z6ii and the pictures/video show it with a Nikon 85mm attached. I wasn't sure if it would work with my camera because my specs say it's just at the edge of what this gimbal will allow for weight and size but Hohem has a compatibility list and sure enough, mine works with a few different Nikon lenses including the 26mm 2.8, 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8. Going portrait mode with a camera this heavy was a bit of a challenge when it came to balancing it but you're going to run into that with any gimbal. I did get it balance though and it worked great. While being able to use the same gimbal for phone, GoPro or Camera is great, keep in mind that setting up and balancing from one to another takes time so it's tough to change quickly from one to another on the fly. Again, that's going to be the same with any gimbal. Get this for your camera and know you can also use it for your other devices when needed. Whichever device you are using, take your time balancing and you'll be happy with the result! This comes with everything you need to start. Phone connector big enough to handle any cell phone out there. GoPro connector as well! Then a solid camera mount based on the Arca-swiss mount to be used with many cameras out there. All mounts can go portrait or landscape. Comes with a tripod base that folds together to become an extension handle when filming on the fly. AI vision sensor with fill light is included as well and it works incredibly well. A simply OK hand signal starts the tracking and single hand-up "stop" signal does just that, stopping the tracking. Makes single person use incredibly easy from the get go. Depending on the camera, you can connect via bluetooth or hardwire (they have a bunch of hardwire connections included). Different cameras will allow for different controls but whether you are filming someone else or just yourself, this system works great! As with most products the written instructions don't cover a lot but they have QR code links to a tutorial with multiple helpful videos for mounting and balancing any item as well as the Hohem App. All of this packed into a sturdy case and they even throw in a cleaning cloth. Charging is through a USB-C. Charges quickly and lasts a good long time. Will even reverse charge other devices if needed. Though I'd only use that in a pinch, it's a nice little feature. There are lots of ways to adjust the mounting system. I've seen some reviews where they say you can't balance something as directed but I'm betting you could if you simply moved the adjustments a little. I experienced that same issue until I realized it was slid in too far or not far enough on one part of the mount so once I adjusted that, I had the full range on the other part of the mount. Mess with it a bit and you'll learn how to adjust the mount quickly enough to reach balance. There are multiple steps involved but once you have it balanced, even a full size camera works perfectly well. To get the pictures for this review it tried 3 devices and changed from landscape to portrait for each. That little bit of work got me pretty adept at balancing. If you are looking for a gimbal for your camera, just check the compatibility list and give it a go. You won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • The End-All-Be-All Gimbal: My A7SIII's New Best Friend! The End-All-Be-All Gimbal: My A7SIII's New Best Friend!
As a professional videographer, my life is a never-ending quest for the perfect shot. Enter the Hohem iSteady MT2 Gimbal Kit - the latest addition to my tech arsenal and, dare I say, my new BFF. First off, let's talk about compatibility. This gimbal isn't just a one-trick pony; it cozies up to my iPhone, GoPro, and even my Sony A7SIII with the ease of a seasoned socialite. It's like the Swiss Army knife of gimbals - versatile, dependable, and surprisingly lightweight at 653g. But wait, there's more! The real MVP feature for me is the Magnetic AI Tracker. It's like having a psychic assistant who knows exactly where I want my frame without me uttering a word. No Bluetooth, no apps, just pure, unadulterated tracking genius. This means I can bid farewell to the days of needing a second camera operator - sorry, Jim, it's not you, it's the AI. Now, let's talk about heavy lifting. My Tamron 28-75mm lens is not exactly a featherweight, but the iSteady MT2 handles it like it's on a spa day. The payload support of up to 1.2kg is a game-changer, allowing me to experiment with different lenses without the gimbal breaking a sweat. For those who live for the 'gram, the Vertical Shooting Master feature is a godsend. Flip-out screen selfies have never been easier, and with a 290° tilt angle, I can capture low-angle shots that make my work look like it belongs in a gallery. The pièce de résistance? The 360° infinite spin shoot. Just three button presses, and you're creating content that could make Spielberg jealous. Add to that the robust 17-hour battery life (6-8 hours with all the bells and whistles on), and you've got a powerhouse that won't quit before you do. In conclusion, the Hohem iSteady MT2 is not just a gimbal; it's a revolution in my videography workflow. It's like finding the perfect dance partner - one that knows your moves before you make them. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to elevate their video game without breaking their back, or the bank! ... show more

  • AI tracker for the win! AI tracker for the win!
The built in AI tracker is what drew me to this gimbal and I am blown away by its simple functionality and ease of use. Plus it works great! On My Ronin I have to mount my phone on top of my camera and use the Ronin app to track. This leaves me without a phone for the duration of the shoot. No so with this gimbal, it comes with a removable tracking module that in my test worked flawlessly. The movements were super steady and tracked me without issue. It's also helpful to me because when I want to use my phone as a video camera I like to use a 3rd party app to recored video and with this gimbal I am not dependent on the gimbal's app to record video and track at the same time. The tracking module works independently of apps, in fact you don't even need to open up the Hohem Joy app to use it. This feature is greatly suited for a YouTuber, etc... because you have a built in cameraman. As a cameraman myself I will use this as a second unmanned camera in certain situations to follow talent for a nice 2nd shot. A major plus to this kit is the bevy of accessories and cables it comes with! It comes with pretty much any cable you need for the compatible cameras as well as a very nice durable phone mount. Speaking of phone mounting, I have always struggled to properly mount my phone on a gimbal designed for a heavier load. Not so with this gimbal, I was able to balance my iPhone 13 Pro Max perfectly and that's what I used to record the video for this review. The instruction manual is clear and not hard to understand. It has nice and clear instructions on balancing which is critical for the proper function of any gimbal. You must get your balance set perfectly or the gimbal will not operate correctly. That goes for any gimbal and it's the biggest mistake I see people make. I think you'll be happy with your purchase. ... show more

  • update : stopped working - Great bang for your buck
Update : stopped working Nice price for a gimbal that can actually use a mirrorless. Especially with the current $50 off coupon. Keep in mind its probably not going to handle big heavy lenses. But seems to hold my Canon R6m2 with a 50mm 1.8 pretty great. It takes a little while to get used to balancing but thats the same with all gimbals. When I first tried it it was very slightly off balance. But it was easy to adjust in the app and after recalibrating a few times, seems consistently level on the in camera level now. The AI tracking is great to have also at this price point. Comes with a nice case and actually with a good set of attachments and a ton of different cords in case you have different connects on your camera. I dont really plan to use this with multiple cameras, but the fact they included those is pretty awesome. They even have small labels for the type of connects. ... show more

  • Designed for phones, GoPro and very light cameras
Product Review: HoHem M2 I recently had the chance to use the Hohem M2 with my Canon R6 mirrorless camera and a 35mm lens, and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. Build Quality: The build quality of this gimbal was subpar. It felt like it was at its breaking point when accommodating my setup. The materials used seemed cheap, and the overall construction did not inspire confidence. The axis points had noticeable slop, which affected the stability and smoothness of the footage. It felt as though the gimbal was poorly manufactured, with the cheapest parts used in its construction. AI Feature: On a positive note, the AI feature was a standout, offering some innovative functionality. However, it was attached via two small magnets, which felt insecure and barely adequate for holding the feature in place. This weak attachment method detracted from the overall user experience. Customer Service: One area where this product excelled was in customer service. The seller was commendable—both the delivery and the return process were handled quickly and efficiently. Their responsiveness and support were much appreciated. Conclusion: While the AI feature shows promise, the gimbal’s poor build quality and unstable components overshadow its potential. If you’re considering this gimbal, be cautious about its durability and overall sturdiness. For those prioritizing build quality and reliability, it might be worth exploring other options. ... show more

  • A truly universal gimbal with everything you need right in the box A truly universal gimbal with everything you need right in the box
I bought an Hohem iSteady M6 for my phone a while back. I really liked that gimbal, but being designed specifically for use with a phone, I still had to carry my much larger, designed-for-a-DSLR gimbal along for the ride if I thought I might want to film with something bigger ... and then I found out about the MT2. This gimbal is only about 100G heavier than the M6, but supports THREE TIMES the payload. At a max payload of 1.2KG (about 2.6 pounds), this will be able to handle a wide variety of mirrorless cameras as long as you don't plan to use too crazy of a lens. As a point of reference, my Panasonic DMC-GX85 (which is on the small end of things) clocks in at about 1LB, leaving me plenty of payload for any lens I own. Balancing was a snap. Yes, I have a few gimbals, and yes, I've done it a few times ... but this was still on the easier end for me. Already knowing what I'm doing, and without reading the instructions, it took me under 30 seconds to balance a phone in the included mount. Slightly harder to do than a gimbal that's purpose-built for phones only, but a small price to pay to gain the capability to host a mirrorless on the same unit. The AI sensor included in this is very same one that can be purchased as an add-on for the M6. It very well here (as it does on the M6), but keep in mind that you'll need to adjust the vertical offset to get it to center you in the frame -- consult the instructions for that. Like the M6 the sensor is magnetic and can be rotated, enabling it to function in both selfie mode and for use with the camera pointed away. This is also the first gimbal I've bought that's come with everything I need in the box to use it with every camera I own. It has all of the adapters needed to mount a phone, action cam, compact, or mirrorless camera in landscape or vertical orientation. I tend to buy cheap adapters, so I'm especially appreciative of this, as the included adapters are of a better quality than the add-ons that I've gotten myself in the past. Overall, this feels very much like a big brother to the M6 ... which is a good thing. While barely adding any additional heft to the gimbal, Hohem has managed to make a unit that can easily handle a wide variety of phones, mirrorless, and compact cameras. A lightweight gimbal is a big win for my arm's endurance, so I'm pretty excited about that. ... show more

  • This thing is amazing!!! This thing is amazing!!!
I received my gimbal stabilizer very quickly. It has very nice packaging. The case for it is very nice. I took a pic so I’d remember the best way to put it back. I follow the instructions before anything with this kind of tech. It’s very sturdy in the hand. I put the tripod on it and there is a ton of videos on YouTube to help you. I used it for my iPhone and there’s an attachment for it. I also have a GoPro that I’ll be using with it. It was easy to download the app for my iPhone. You have to make sure you unlock the gimbal where it says to. You adjust it by sliding and balancing the phone. Like I said, the video showed me just what to do also. The final part is to let the app finish the stabilizing process. Good yo go! I started by walking behind my cat and videoing him. Nice and smooth actions. I saw the controls for direction are customizable. Then I put it on the table with the tripod. It folds down so i didn’t take it off. Then i put on the AI. You stand back and make an ok finger sign and it follows you around! Not literally, the camera does. 😁 I set it up to take pictures and walked around the room. My fiancée got excited so we can set it up for selfies on vacation. We find it so hard to get good pics of us together like that. The selfie stick she got gave her so many problems connecting and it still couldn’t get a group photo in front of the beach house. Now I’ll be able to get nice videos of her in front of the lighthouse as I’m walking on uneven ground to show background and stuff. Very excited to use this more. High quality technology like this gimbal stabilizer is amazing. ... show more

  • Blown Away by iSteady MT2!
Okay, I've got to say, the iSteady MT2 is seriously cool. I've tried a bunch of these before, but the Magnetic AI Tracker on this one? Total game-changer. No more messing around with Bluetooth or downloading yet another app. And the gesture control? So intuitive. I love that it's super lightweight but doesn't compromise on strength. I mean, it can handle my smartphone, my action camera, and even my full-frame mirrorless camera. That's impressive for something that's just 653g! Switching between accessories is a breeze with the MULTI 4.0 Quick Release. And the vertical shooting options? Perfect for my Instagram stories/reels and those low-angle shots. This will boost my views and followings for sure! The 360° infinite spin shoot feature is just the cherry on top. I've gotten some jaw-dropping shots with it. Shipping was super fast and the packaging was super economical and clean! These are smart people, you can tell. Every minute detail they have got figured out. All in all, if you're on the fence about the iSteady MT2, just go for it. It's made a huge difference in my shots, and I'm sure you'll love it too! Thank you! ... show more
