  • Great way to check in on your pets
This is a fun little camera "robot" for interacting with your pets while you are away from home. This robot is essentially a security camera in a "remote control" vehicle. The robot is about 5" tall and has "tank" tracks instead of wheels for maneuvering around. The camera angle is fixed and can not pan up and down. You will need to steer the robot into a position that you can see what you want. To control the robot, you need to download the UBoxPro app and connect your robot to your wifi network. You have different options with the app to record to a cloud server or to an SD card that you can install in the robot. You can take still photos as well. The robot and app have motion detect notifications which could be handy if you want this robot to second as a security camera. The app has some pre-programmed motions to interact with your pets. For controlling the robot, there is about a ½ second lag in the controls and the video response. The motor for the robot drive system is a bit noisy and sounds like a cheap motor. There is certainly no way this robot could be stealthy. It does have pretty cool LED lighting on the front of the robot that can be adjusted. The camera image quality is of good quality and can automatically change to night mode in low light settings. There is a microphone and speaker so you can hear and talk to your pet. There is a red laser light to attract your pet and play, but I don't feel this was a good concept as it is shining at the eye level of smaller pets and could cause eye damage if it is a true laser. There is a feather wand attachment meant for cats. I have small dogs that don’t really care for that. I think that if a cat were to swat at the wand, the robot would roll over. There would be no way to up-right the robot remotely if that happened. The robot travels on carpet and hard floors pretty easily, but it does struggle with the going up the edge of my carpet from the hard floor. It is too bad the base of the robot was not made wider and longer for more stability, as it has rolled back a couple times when driving it up the carpet edge. Overall, I think this robot is a fun idea and gives a great way to check in on your pets through the day. I do think there are fundamental design issues, such as the small wheel/track base, noisy motor, and no panning camera angle. This does win with the concept of being a mobile camera, having an actual on/off switch for ensuring privacy when wanted, and for being pretty easy to use. ... show more

  • Whole lot of fun, a little expensive, I hate that I need another app.
I have been using Hiseeu products for years. I have never been disappointed with there products. This Pet Robot was no exception. The design of the robot is great. I love the tracked design, even if it does make steering a little more challenging. The tracks allow this robot camera to easily cover slight differences in floor height as well as every few attempts, get up on an area rug. The design also allows the camera to rock back and then tilt forward enough that the tracks will grab and allow you to backup and try moving again. I don’t think in the 30 minutes or so that I was playing with my dog, did the camera get stuck and need rescue. As I mentioned, the tracks do my steering a little tough. Especially since you are using a virtual joystick on your phone. Also since it needs to connect with you phone, there is a pretty big delay from when you move it, until it shows on the screen. I can say with caution, I was able to drive it around obstacles using just he camera view on the phone, but it was so much easier to maneuver when you can see it with your own eyes. The built in lights and the laser pointer were ok. Like most baby monitors/pet monitors, it does have a night vision/infrared mode. That makes driving it around easier when it gets close to things. It comes with a cat toy/feather on a string, but since I was playing with the dog, I didn’t install it. If I had one gripe it would be that I had to install a different app to use this robot. Every other Hiseeu products I have used, used the same app. This one does not. Other than that, I found this thing fun to play with. Is it expensive, you bet. Is it a robot you can drive from outside the house, yep. Can it entertain you and your dogs, I will let you be the judge. ... show more

  • Pet robot that demands patience and some tinkering.
I am a big fan of Hiseeu security cameras and so I thought I would really like this device, but I had some frustrations. Foremost, it does not work with the standard APP for the security cameras, you need to download a new APP called UBOX PRO and then create a new account on that platform. It will only support 2.4 wi-fi and to setup you need it and your phone or tablet to be on the same wi-fi, which you will need to manually enter name and password (I did not find any auto-scan for wi-fi feature). Only then will the device finish the pairing process to a displayed 2-d bar code on your device read by the "robot" camera. The device moves on two small rubberized tracks that have a hard time on carpeted surfaces in my testing but do fine on hard smooth surfaces. The interfaces for moving around and for creating motions for engaging a pet were in my opinion awkward to set up. The memory card and other slots are fully exposed on what I would call the back of the device, which concerns me for dust or animal slobber intrusion. It could have been my router, but I found that the range of this device was less than things like laptops and phones on the same 2.4 signal. It comes with a charging cord that you attach to your own supply. The "feather toy" is just held into a small hole by friction. The battery life is trackable in the APP and you can add your own memory card for storage. The two-way communication allows for audible engagement with your pet. With a more polished APP or if it integrated into the pre-existing Hiseeu ecosystem, I would be thrilled. As it is, I would call it good, but be prepared for some heavy lifting to get the full experience from it. ... show more

  • Fun Little Rover
This little camera robot has only been here a few days, but it is already pretty easy to see what it is trying to be. It is part indoor camera, part pet gadget, and part little rover you can drive around the floor when you want to check in on things. Setup took a little more effort than a plain camera since you have to get it on the right WiFi and work through the app, but once it is connected, the live view looks nice and sharp for an indoor unit. The wider view helps too, and the two way audio is handy if you want to talk to a pet or just hear what is going on in the room. What makes this one different is the fact that it moves, which is fun and useful, but that also brings a few tradeoffs with it. On smooth floors it gets around well enough, but with something like carpet edges or transitions, I could see that being more of a challenge than a fixed camera sitting happily on a shelf minding its own business. The motor noise is noticeable too, so this is not exactly a sneaky little spy machine. I also noticed that in lower light or when it noses into a corner, the picture is not as sharp, so if you are expecting strong night vision performance, that does not seem to be this camera’s strong suit. I would also keep an eye on stability, because with a moving camera this size, tipping or getting awkwardly stuck feels more realistic than with a regular indoor cam. Still, for somebody who likes the idea of checking in on pets and having a little extra interaction while away, this feels more entertaining and flexible than a basic stationary camera, even if it is a little rough around the edges. ... show more
