I don't know about the battery yet but the bike is great the bad reviews are people with know mechanics about the forks on bakwrds it's packed that way to fit, everything loose is for a reason for adjustments bike went together fast minor adjustments incredibly fun as my daughter said I rode it also 6 foot 1" and it was a blast the brakes make some small noises but in time and break-in should be good I will update on battery in 6 months good bike for the price I definitely recommend. It arrived on time, but after assembling I realized that part of the deraiilleur was bent. I contacted customer service and they were very responsive. The told me to take it to a local bike shop then they would pay the cost to repair plus $20. They came through quickly without any problems.     • All in all worth the money
I just got the bike today and I may edit this in the future. The bike assembly from the box is simple, however there were some more difficult tasks. The suspension arms were mounted backwards to the stem, so I had to flip that around. In doing so it resulted in the front brake cable running over the front tire. I had to disassemble the suspension fork completely from the stem to reroute the cable. The brakes also required alignment, not too difficult but FYI for those with little bike knowledge or skills. Once I got the battery charged and started riding I became impressed. It didn't take my breath away, but it is exactly what I expected at this price point and did not disappoint as such. I will begin daily riding it and will have to see how the battery life will be. Same with the tires, they seem a bit suspect, but I will see how long they last. Tires may be the first upgrade for peace of mind. I am 5'11 and the 27.5 frame is a little small. I typically ride a large frame bike. The cable disc brakes are a bit slower to brake then I am use to, however this is a cheaper functional commuter bike and not what I ride on the weekend, so its probably just me being use to nicer hydraulic brakes. Again functionally sound and yet to see performance-wise so far exactly what I thought the bike would be. ****************** After a few months of having this I am very happy. I commute about 4 miles a day and no problems. The brakes could be better but they work for commuting, battery lasts 4-5 days of commuting, tires are a bit weak and I already got a flat, but I definitely saw the broken glass too late. I take the wife out on some easier trails. I ride my MTB bike and she rides the e bike, it is capable enough and allows her to keep up and enjoy the ride. UPDATE*** After a summer of commuting, I am very pleased with the bike. What you get is certainly reflected by the price, so I just put hydraulic brakes on it which is a HUGE difference. Also the tires and grips were as low quality as I expected, so I replaced those as well. Some components need upgrades, but it serves it's purpose for mobility and has been completely reliable! ... show more

This bike works very well. I use it to commute, as a college student, for about 10 hours per week, including at night. The handlebar allows for plenty of attachments, and the seat is pretty comfortable. If you’re going uphill, you can use the bike like a normal bike and pedal harder to go uphill faster since you’ll then be helping the motor to get you over the hill faster. ... show more

Purchased this bike as a second bike for those days I’m not feeling up to using pure muscle power. It arrived very well packaged and was easy to assemble. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had a quick release in the front, the photo showed a regular bolt on axle. The other nice surprise was to see it had a lever throttle and not a twist throttle also shown in the product description. Once assembled, the gears did not shift properly. I realized it had a slightly bent derailleur hanger. I took the derailleur off, straightened the hangar and put the derailleur back. Some quick adjustments and it was shifting perfectly. If you are not mechanically inclined, maybe find a friend to help with the assembly. On my first ride, I used pedal assist medium for the first 13.25 miles. The terrain was a slight uphill on a rail trail. I lost 1 of the 4 battery bars at mile 10, meaning I could have gone at least 40 miles in that mode. I turned around and went back in high. Still had 2 bars (more likely 1.5) at the finish. 26.5 miles at 16mph average. On low pedal assist on something like a rail trail, this should go 50 miles. Maximum speed achieved in my run was 21.3 MPH. ... show more

My old rockshark has 6 months commuting. The new rockshark knocks while peddling. 2 batteries and parts to swap. Good 1st and 2nd ebike.

Got the bike put together in about 10 minutes. If you are familiar with bikes it’s a very easy process. One key advice make sure the bars are tight in the stem. I’m a pretty big dude (6’1 and about 235) I got this so I can take rides around my town and not waist gas in the car or die in this summer heat. That’s beside the point, I live on this pretty big hill and it’s a total pain to ride up it in my Marlin 5 so I decided to get an e-bike so I’m not miserable the whole time. Long story short, I did not have to peddle once going up the hill. I’m new to e-bikes and if I have any note worthy topics to bring up I’ll repost/edit. Update - I am down to 2 bars on the battery, have not charged it since before the first ride. I have gone just over 10 miles and I think I can get another 5 to 10 out of the charge. Important note! Upgrade the breaks. The breaks are not good. Was going down a steep hill and while going down I was feathering the breaks so I would be able to stop at the stop sign at the bottom. About half way down the back break line snapped leaving me with only the front breaks, front breaks only going down hill is not fun. Not removing any stars because over all it’s a great e-bike for the price. ... show more
