My grandson just started college and is taking art. The focus of "drawing" uses a lot of different media and materials. It can be a bit expensive. This set was a big help. Its a great value and has a lot of the items his instructor required. The diversity of materials is a good deal with various, charcoal, pens, erasers, pastels and even paper. Although the paper isn't what he needed for every type of drawing, it serves as good practice paper. The fact that it all fits in a handy carrying case makes it easier to transport his art supplies back and forth to campus. The ingenious manner in which they layered the pens/pencils allowed for more art supplies to be included. While we did have to supplement a few items, this was a great value and good quality set. I can see both kids and adults getting a lot of enjoyment with this set and learning to express their creative talents at the same time. Good deal, good supplies!

Second time I'm writing this review as the first was lost. The significance of this? I like this product enough to go back and try again! I also intend to create a broad video review which is something I've never done. This set compels me to do so! (Will post soon!) I needed a set of pencils in a wide value range. While looking, I begin noticing these sets, which I normally don't buy because I'm concerned about quality. The accessories in this kit make this an economical way to acquire a full set of Art pencils & charcoal and all the little odds and ends to give your art an edge. The value range of the pencils go from 5H, or hard, all the way to 14B or soft. (The hard pencils give a light value where as the soft pencils provide dark values) This is a very good value range. It also has a set of colored charcoal pencils which has colors useful for landscapes & portraits. You'll find black-and-white charcoal pencils, blending tools, a pencil holder/extender. It has gold, silver, and white gel pens. There is dark, black charcoal, as well as soft, "vine" charcoal (in this case, made from Willow.) There's white charcoal blocks as well. When you open the zippered porfolio you'll find a small sketch pad of standard quality, multiple blending tools of different sizes shapes and styles. There is a small craft knife, kneaded eraser, ruler… If you're an Artist then you've probably sharpened your pencils by sharpening your pencils with a craft knife or X-Acto blade and then sanding the tip on a sanding block; this kit has a small sanding block! Art supplies have become vastly expensive. I purchased this kit for $43. It was on special. I think it goes for $49.99 now. Thay makes it a little pricey, but if you were to buy these things separately, it would cost so much more! I highly recommend this set, especially for Art students or anyone who wants to draw!

This kit was pretty good, it had a lot of tools for the money. I wish it explained what some of those tools were for. My daughter is a younger artist who was self taught so even she wasn’t sure what they were all for. Overall good product that was mostly easy to use.

I am thoroughly impressed. There are so many things to help in making art. There is even a pointillism pen in the kit. It has every piece in a neat order. This is like a one stop shop for art supplies. I would definitely recommend it to a friend, or get it again.
