    • Not a way to purchase an ebike
I had been interested in purchasing an ebike for more than 2 years. I researched and read and watched YouTube reviews. I purchased the Heybike Race Max based upon this. It was a serious mistake that I will never make again. You purchase an ebike to ride longer with comfort. I could do neither with this bike. My riding position was hunched forward making it necessary to crane my neck. I contacted the seller about this. They informed me that the handlebars could not be raised. I have since learned that it is possible to use a stem extender. However I am not sure that the wire umbilical length will accommodate this. I selected this bike because it had a front suspension fork, 27.5" tires and a 500w motor. But that is where the good ends. If you can't ride a bike comfortably, it is worthless. There is a delay of 2 or 3 heavy pedals before the motor kicks in. This was very annoying. During assembly, the rear tire exploded when I increased the pressure from 20 lbs it came with to 55 lbs as recommended. I ordered a replacement tube from Amazon. But when I tried to install it, I discovered why the first one exploded. I couldn't engage the tire bead to the rim properly near the stem. A local bike store helped me with this. I requested a return from the seller. They sent me a return label. I was responsible for return costs. It cost me $278 to return this bike that was worthless to me. This was a $278 worthless experience. I have since test ridden the Townie Electra at RCI. It is significantly more expensive. But it is the difference between night and day. The experience with Heybike has set me back significantly with my ebike decision. I am continuing to look for and test ride ebikes. I will never consider purchasing a bicycle online again.     • Very well engineered and built electric bike
This bike is a bomb! It is so well engineered and made that the first time i drove i couldn't be silent, it is a WOW. I really like that it has 7 speeds. One speed won't be enough even with pedal assist, when you stop and continue on a hilly trail. Yes, you can push the auto mode and that would push you in, but if you won't to use pedals I would use all 7 speeds for that. 21 most likely is overkill for electric bike. The breaks are good, but squeaky and i am not sure yet how to make that noise to go away, probably need to send it for a tune up. The color speedometer is really good, it's location in the middle of the fork is where it belongs to. I am glad i didn't get the bike with speedometer on the middle of the left handle. The front LED light is powered off motor, which is great, while the rear LED has rechargeable battery. Would be nice if it was also connected to a motor. The fork won't lift, it has 1 position only, while the seat can go up and down. Instructions are not very clear about assembling of the front wheel, while it is very simple: remove enclosed bolt and insert the one from the plastic bag. I am 6'1'' and i wish the bike was 29 instead of 27.5. It is almost comfortable but i could not find similar priced bike with 29'' wheels, so i guess it is acceptable for me. The pedals are good, however if they were 1-2 inches away from bike it would be slightly more comfortable. The handles are not oval, but has more flat ends, which is good and bad. If you hold the handles and not touching the breaks, it's fine, but if you drive and constantly holding breaks with 1-2 fingers than i think i could theoretically lose control if I got at a pothole while holding the handle this way. I didn't lose control yet, but you should be a little more careful. Position of the electric motor push button is not very user friendly. You have to push it down with your right big finger while also holding the handle. In my case, my hands frequently feel numb from holding it even for 5-10 minutes, can't imagine driving like that for 30 minutes or more. I would rather push it forward with a big finger versus pushing down. But since it is my first electric bike i didn't know such detail before hand. Description for bike stated there should be rear mirror included, which it was not. May be it's a typo in description... Overall I am very impressed with a bike, especially with its design. However the quality control could be better. I wish designer tried to ride with a big finger pointing down for a long time and then make some adjustments. The pedal assist mode is great, but if you stop pedaling, the bike immediately losing speed, unless you are going down the hill. Also this bike can't handle hills with more than 30 degrees incline. I tried the 45 degrees one, very steep hill and on a 3-rd speed it was hardly moving. But at any lower inclines and small hills, it is just awesome, the moment you start pedaling you are already 20 feet away. So easy to pedal !!! No pressure at all on legs, as long as you pedal the bike goes. 1st speed gets you up to 10 m/h, 2nd speed up to 15 m/h and 3rd speed up to 19.5 m/s. I was able to get to 22.5 when driving on 3rd speed down the hill. It felt super quick. Just a comment, if you end up hitting a pothole on such speed, you probably will fell off the bike and be seriously hurt. I drove about 50 miles on this bike so far. I think it could make up to 20-30 miles with mixed mode of pedaling and a few miles of pure electric mode here and there. I keep recharging it every 20 miles, so not sure what the max distance would be. ... show more

The bike is invisible and the quality is as solid as Amazon’s reputation. I’m having a word this very carefully in order to not get cnsrd. I ordered directly from Amzn (sold by & shipped by Amzn). The order may or may not be fulfilled but has been refunded. Don’t know if Amzn deals are anymore legit than those on FB Mktplc or C’s List. ... show more
