Description

Herm. Sprenger training collar with ClicLock buckle is made in Germany by the world’s foremost manufacturer of top-quality dog collars. Herm. Sprenger stainless steel dog collar with ClicLock buckle on the side is a newly designed alternative to traditional prong training collars. Quickly unfasten the collar even with one hand by unlocking the buckle, conveniently placed close to the assembly chain that links to the leash. Unlike prong collars with the centrally located buckle, this design still has a center fastener plate and provides even distribution of the pressure by prongs on the dog’s neck. The prong collar is made of durable, rust resistant stainless steel. Polished finish of the stainless steel offers a distinctive and modern look. This collar offers strength and durability. The Herm. Sprenger training dog collar features a martingale style assembly chain. The chain tightens the collar if the dog pulls on the leash while walking. Due to symmetrical attachment of the links with the center plate, the collar places even pressure around the neck, pressing the skin in a ring. Swivel D-Ring connects with the leash and provides a full 360-degree rotation. This feature prevents tangling and allows complete mobility of the leash. Comfort and security are offered by patented “ClicLock” buckle made of stainless steel. The buckle is used to fasten the collar around the dog’s neck without pulling it over the head. Plastic jacket protects the clasp against unintended opening and soiling. The jacket is designed to slide out completely from an open buckle. If the jacket was lost, the function of the buckle mechanism will not be affected. The buckle functions as intended as long as you hear a loud click at the time of the closing. The training collar should fit snugly on the dog’s neck just under the jaw line, although, the collar should not fit too tight. The protective black plastic jacket on the buckle is designed to slide on and off the unfastened buckle. It is strongly recommended to use a backup collar while training your dog with the prong collar. Really a well-designed, easy-to-use prong collar. It is easy to put on and remove, it’s sturdy, with prongs thick enough for the most powerful dogs, and works well with my 10 month old, 80 lb. puppy—and weighs about 2/3 of my weight! I started him in obedience training, when I adopted him at 8 months old—and not previously trained. My trainer recommended this collar. I was amazed that because of the design of the collar, it instantly kept him on heel, next to me! It’s well-designed and humane. I bought an additional “quick release” fastener, which can be changed out, but the original one is easy enough, that I haven’t seen the need to change it out. In using it, I was taught to keep my pup beside me, and hold the leash straight up. As long as he stays on heel, there’s minimal pressure on the collar. He’s smart enough that, as I move, he responds quickly, naturally staying in position on heel. So it’s a great, effective training aid. It also gives me confidence that I can control him. Squirrels and every other moving animal and wind-blown leaf, seem naturally attractive to dogs. The collar provides safety that he’s going to stay under control, and not suddenly bolt after anything that moves—as happens outside. The collar is a great investment, works, and gives me confidence I won’t be pulled off-balance, which is an important safety feature for me, with a relatively large dog. He is growing, so I also ordered 4 extra prongs to attach. Being able to adjust the size easily, by adding or removing a few prongs makes this a practical design. As a precaution: the prong collar should be used only when working directly with a dog. Otherwise, it should be removed, to avoid accidental injury. ... show more

The quality of the Herm Sprenger Prong Collar is outstanding. The collar is not dangerous to the dog at all, despite how it looks. It allows for greater control of dogs, especially larger breeds. The fit is great as long as you do your part and get an accurate measurement. It is an attractive collar, and it's very effective in training your dog. After going through 2 "other" prong collars I decided to invest. I have a large breed puppy and I need a good correction as he grows. This collar he was unable to shake down. The clasp was easy and secure, but, I did have to buy extra prongs, thats okay. I could tell it was very durable out of the package and is perfect for training. Love this compared to the non herm collars. Made so much better. Love the quick connect and actually moves easier and smoother than the old non herm.     • Herm Sprenger - never buy anything else

I work with a master level dog trainer and a friend that has trained dogs for 45 years. Both tell me that you should NEVER buy any prong collar besides Herm Sprenger. Other brands have sharp edges, or cheap metal that contains nickel, which a very large percentage of dogs have allergic reactions to nickel, which is in almost every other low end collar. I've used my HS 2.25mm collar for about 4 months now, and I've never had a single issue. I do recommend anything you're using this where your dog can get away, that you double connect the collar. Prong collars can be put on wrong and they can come loose. This style is less likely to because you're not pinching the prongs to put the collar on and off. Once your dog understands the prong collar and is used to it (it's easy if done correctly), then the dog doesn't pull. If you're dog is still in training and they do pull, it's typically much less than on a flat collar. HS collars do not need those plastic covers that can come off. Those are to protect the dog from sharp corners or cheap metal. I get my dog training online from a master dog trainer named Garret Wing at DIYK9.com. Or you can follow his free content on YouTube under American Standard Dog Training. His courses are amazing. If you know what you're doing, you can train a dog to walk with manners on a leash using a prong collar in about 5 minutes for 95% of the dogs professionals train. He has a course called, "The Perfect Walk" that covers walking on a loose leash with manners. That 5 minutes of dog training is covered in such detail that the course it self is almost 5 hours long. ... show more

Done wonders for controlling my dog on a walk. Trainer said to use this type of collar. He is small but mighty and stubborn. My only problem with this is making sure his ears are out of the way before attaching, my senior fingers sometime have difficulty removing it, and the slide bar might slip off once it is off. That being said, it is the only collar I want for my dog. It does not choke him and he responds to the pressure really well. ... show more
