I really like this knife set. The tips of the knives are much sharper than the last set I owned. Having small hands, these are still easy enough to hold and use. I do wish that this set contained a cleaver and perhaps a knife with a between the pairing and carving sizes. The pairing knives have a wider blade than I have used in the past with knives labeled pairing knives. I like that the sharpener is built in but I do rinse each knife before using because of the sharpening of each knife just as a precaution and personal preference. I've never owned Henckels knives before, but so far they have been simply amazing. We replaced an old set of cheap Chicago Cutlery knives with this set and so far have been extremely impressed with their feel, construction, durability, and cutting performance. Even though they are made in China (as most things are), you can tell that they are far superior to the majority of cheaper sets that are the same price that these were on sale for at the time I bought them (66% off the normal price of $650). It's so nice to have pairing, prep, etc. knives that can cut through most fruits with simply the weight of the blade and minimal effort. The self-sharpening block I was mostly skeptical of at first has so far in the few months we have owned them kept the knives like-new sharp, but time will tell. So far I have no complaints, but we'll see how things go in a year from now. ... show more

I looked for a long time before getting a knife set, and did a good bit of research on self sharpening knife sets, and this one in particular. The handles are nicely balanced and fit in my hand well. The block is very attractive. A couple of the larger knives have a gouge or two in the handle, but nothing that really distracts from the usefulness of the knives. I was glad to see that the bottom of the block is open to allow dust or debris to be blown out of the block. All in all, I’m pretty happy so far! ... show more

Sharp knifes worth the price and warranty. Deserves 5 stars only thing I’m not sure about it weather the prep knife is 5.5 inch prep knife in picture above looking at the shape of the knife itself and the picture of it.
