I bought this as a gift for my parents, as the knives they've been using are a little less-than. This appears by all standards to be a good knife for homecooking, sturdy, comfortable to hold, and stainless steel. Despite the material, I still wouldn't put it in the dishwasher; the manufacturer says you can, but they recommend handwashing (and I know my parents will handwash). So far, they seem to like it, both using it and the appearance. Henckel makes an excellent commercial chef knife. However, this is not that knife. This knife is a hollow-handled lightweight home knife and would not last 2 weeks in a commercial kitchen. I had to sharpen it when I received it because it was fairly dull and it appears to hold the sharpness well. I got the knife to replace my wife's favorite Santoku knife; it lasted for 3 years and the blade snapped in half one day when I dropped it. That will not happen to this Henckel. OVERALL for the price the knife is a good home kitchen tool. It will never be my "go to" knife. ... show more

I have a 7" Moderinst Santoku knife that is very heavy and wide. So I purchased this 5" one and found it to be extremely light. Handle feels hollow and while I expected the length to be shorter I was not expecting the width to me so narrow. Cute little knife for cutting small stuff.
