Love the chef knife (as well as the paring and utility knives) in this set and use it almost daily. Forged quality made in Spain, not China. My dad loves it too and was impressed by it when he gave it a try, which I think indicates it could be a nice gift if someone you know would appreciate a new knife set.

Earlier this year I bought a set of cheap knives to use in my first house. I knew they wouldn't last for ever, but I had hoped to get a few years out of them. However, in the last month both the chef knife and the paring knife have had their handles snapped. So I decided to upgrade a few knives at a time. These knives from Henkels are forged from German sourced stainless steel in Spain. They each have a full tang making it unlikely that the handles will last for a long time. The blades of all three knives came very sharp right out of the box, so it will be some time before they need to be sharpened. The only negative that I have is that the paring knife's handle is very narrow. This doesn't make it difficult to handle, but I am afraid that using it for labg periods will cause my hand to fatigue and/or cramp up. Of course for people with smaller hands shouldn't have that problem. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and will more than likely buy more knives from Henkels.

I've always liked Henckels, and the Classic has been my favorite design. This is a high value set of knives considering you get three for this price. But my belief since I've owned a set of Classic Henckels for years and wanted to add to them, is the new Classic's aren't as high quality as my older set. I want to believe the quality of the steel blade is as good, we'll see, but the handle and the weight of the knife is not the same as a Classic purchased five or ten years ago. Still, good value, can't go wrong.

First I ordered each one individually ( about $ 145). Then this ad popped up... same exact knives as 3 pc set for $85.99. Couldn't have asked for better knives. Elderly.. Have severe arthritis, and carpal tunnel both hands. Wanted new knives to make simple food prep easier. These are easy to hold..not heavy. work great for various tasks. I wash and dry them right away to avoid water stains. Bought plastic protectors for each knife. Have always bought only Henkels knives.. they're the best.
