The media could not be loaded. I bought this same set of knives so many years ago I can’t remember when. I wanted a new set. Nothing wrong with old set just looked bad after many many years of use. I didn’t “baby” my old set, washed them in dishwasher. These knives last forever. They stand behind their product. One of the handles broke after many years of use and they are replacing it, no questions asked. This new set is beautiful and I think I’m going to really like the self sharpening block. Spend the extra money, they are worth it! Quality cost money. Note: the knives that are missing in video and photos are in dishwasher, which was running when I took video. I bought these knives as a replacement for a set which we had used for years, but they just never kept an edge. Even after sharpening they weren't terribly sharp. These are twice as sharp and thus far are keeping their edges nicely. The manufacture is very good - no defects at all as some reviewers have commented on - they are very solid and good looking. The block is small and very space saving as compared to the others, and the self sharpening devices are wonderful. I had a set of Henckels knives 40 years ago, but lost them in a divorce - now I'm whole again! ... show more

I am very pleased with this set. The knives are a good weight, and this set has just the knives we use regularly. I might buy a butcher knife to complement this, but in general this feels like a good curated set. I love that the sharpener is built-in. This set also looks great on my counter. The only negative is that the scissors sit at a strange angle in their slot, but it's not a deal breaker. ... show more

I've been wanting a set of Henckels knives for many years but was put off by the price. Finally decided it was time and when researching the purchase, realized there are many different levels/grades. Decided if we were going to do it, we'd do it right and went with the Classic. High grade steel and made in Spain vs...you know... Shouldn't have waited so long! Buy once...cry once, and then just enjoy them for what will probably be the rest of my life. If you can't spring for the full blown German made Zwilling knives, the Classic is absolutely the only other option in my mind. ... show more

The knives are wicked sharp but the handles are plastic. It’s like Henkels typical quality of steel and the honing feature on each blade is genius. Priced a bit low for the over all product but I had Henkels in the house a kid… I may be a tad bias

I just received these knives today, so I cannot speak to their longevity. However, they are starting out as the finest set of knives I’ve ever owned. They are sharp and well-balanced. I have high hopes that the self-sharpening block will keep them in the best condition possible. After trying them out, I realized just how poor a job my old set of knives was doing.
