Preface: I am a state licensed wildlife rehabber, & occasionally take in domestics from bad situations: the following narrative concerns a 5yo female Jenday Conure: Cydnee came in bald, malnutrition, hypertized, switch-to-agressive instantly. Slowly I changed her diet, much to her screaming dislike. Adding chamomile & catnip only marginally calmed her. Avian experts suggested "something stronger"... I found this Hemp Oil & started adding it directly into her food 3 days ago... ***THERE ARE NO WORDS TO EXPRESS THE PEACE both myself & all the other animals here can NOW ENJOY!!!*** The difference was almost instant & STARK!!! The next shower she gets, I will purposely gently rub some into her bald belly & legs, the bald spots on her back & under her wings, to calm her agitation at the new pinfeathers coming in, that so far she's instantly plucked OUT!!! As the opportunity presents itself, I won't hesitate to use this with specific birds of prey who show up for rehab & are extremely difficult to handle in captivity. try it on the food, if they dont eat the food apply it to the skin direct if its a plucker. my hahns plucks like many others he was bald to the skin. i literally rubbed it all over his chest and i can tell you he is fully feathered as I speak. it does work it. seems to sooth the skin and helps it grow back not being touched. I still showered him normally and applied it after. he seemed to even love it.

Ok, so I felt timid at first because of the varied reviews regarding the water additive and it not having gone through a few years to see there are no side effects. I decided after last years most horrific hormonal season (we’ve been through many with no issues and guided training etc). The season started with a close call from a Too that never bites and after a vet visit to make sure all was ok my vet and I spoke and because my Too has been with me for 35 yrs now (I have had him since a small child) the vet felt we should be past any issues this severe. I decided after speaking with my husband we should try it and see if we notice any difference. After receiving it I didn’t think Joey would allow me to give his dosage via dropper, but he takes everything else so I told him it was time for his meds (he takes his with me every day) he stepped up, cuddled, opened up and it went down the hatch and I got a “thank you” and kiss. He LOVES the flavor. I decided to put it in his water because the oil stays on the too like a slight skim in spots and he dunks his muffin or other edible while I sip coffee with him. I would say within a couple of days I didn’t have any signs of discomfort from him. My husband who loves Joey and takes him for bicycle rides around the block on his harness has felt the “hurt feelings” not from the aggression but because his cycling buddy was down and not himself finally tried for a step up when Joey went to him and it was like he wanted to apologize all at once. He snuggled started sticking his tongue out for kisses and said “let’s go” which is his cue he wanted outside. They went for a ride and it’s love at first sight over and over. THANK YOU for such a reliable and neutral product. We don’t use anything with chemicals or something store bought that’s not all natural. This saved a lot of heartache and hurt feelings in both sides. Do give this a try if you’re having issues and you’ve tried the normal first response fixes. I’ve raised large birds since 5 with my grandmother and I have 8 myself (some were hers and I kept them when she passed because they knew me) I keep filters running in their rooms that I’m in all day and each set is out with their friends so it works well. I wish we had this in the 80s when she was training and breeding. She rescued many birds and rehomed them until she was in her 70s. Many behavioral issues etc and I wonder if a little calming dose of this might have eased what they were dealing with after trying many different things. I have shared this with quite a few of my students with birds and friends. I let them know how it worked for me and some saw the difference but I tell them that I don’t know the long term studies but being it’s natural I’m confident with what I’ve read and the reviews I’ve seen.

I added a bit to my lovebird’s millet, he took one bite before shaking his head/wiping his beak on anything he could find and refused to try it again. He’s not a picky eater so it was surprising.

My little nugget has a huge problem with self mutilation, and I thought this would help relax her and make her not want to pick (she loves hemp seeds) … but the taste or something with the product made her throw up (which bird owners you know is hard to do) and stay away from me, buy with caution, just increase your sweet feather baby doesn't like it

When I put the hemp in all of my bird’s food and water my bird is much calmer! The value for cost is great. It doesn’t seem like it would be by size, but it goes a long way! The only thing I don’t like is cleaning out the dishes afterwards. Super hot sudsy water does a great job! A little tougher when the hemp is used in powdery substances, but doable.
