  • So small my dad claimed it!
UPDATE 1-5-16: My dad carried this every day on his keychain for about five months, when the light died in December. I tried new batteries, cleaned all the contacts, and tested continuity. It seems something inside the head/LED is not making a proper connection anymore. It didn't see any drops or smashing, but it was on his keychain with other keys and bouncing in his pocket from normal use. The light may be best suited for carry in a place where it doesn't get regularly bumped and jostled. For the price and the output of the light, I leave the four-star rating, as the light is very inexpensive, and I've had many other lights that cost more and promised more, and delivered much less. This is a really neat TINY light. I don't deal with anything smaller than AAA batteries (due to price and difficulty in obtaining them), and this is the smallest AAA battery out there that I have found. It's just a bit smaller than the Thrunite Ti3 in length, while about the same diamater in both the body and head. It is also simple, in that it has one mode: high. The beam is pretty focused, so it may not be good for lighting up a large area with light (flood type light) and is more of an inspection light or spotlight at distance, which is impressive for a light this tiny. I didn't get a chance to test it much more than this, because as soon as my dad got his hands on it, he clipped it to his keychain with the nifty keychain clip, and claimed it for his EDC keychain light. He will definitely let me know if there are any updates on the plus or the negative sides. ... show more

  • A (not so) perfect little flashlight
I am a recent amateur flashlight aficionado, and have been hunting for the "perfect" little light. I just ordered one of these and may have found it. Very small, runs on a standard AAA battery, and impressively bright! I haven't yet seen how long the battery lasts, but have high hopes. I started using this for my walks in the dark winter northwest evenings, and find the beam it throws is more than sufficient to both light my way and alert any coming cars, merely having it on and pointing downward. Again, very bright, very compact. If the battery lasts more than an hour I will be buying more. Update (1/17/16): dropping my rating to 3 stars I've had some time to use the flashlight the way I wanted, which is being on continuously, up to an hour, while hiking or walking in dark conditions. So I've noticed a couple problems now: (1) after being on for around 10-15 minutes, if you turn it off then on again, it won't turn on for several tries in a row. (2) The light fades to off after being on for 40 minutes or so. I was still on my original battery, which has gotten maybe 2-3 hours of use, so that's not good for me, but I'm a little dubious whether it was the battery or not. My impression of this behavior is that the little light may be pushing itself too hard for such an impressive beam, and is overheating after a while, as well as possibly draining the battery a little too quickly. This is a shame, and puts the flashlight back into the "novelty" category for me, and as such is also overpriced. I have since purchased a Fenix E01 flashlight, which is similar in form factor and price, and seems to have lots of good specs and reviews. The beam it throws is not nearly as impressive (though still adequate for my use), so will have to see if it lasts longer under continuous use. ... show more

  • Awesome quality of light... not so awesome quality of clip =/
In most cases here, I wait until I get the email asking for my input on products I've purchased; not this time. I've carried a Streamlight Nano on my keys for the past year, and have encountered several irritations with it which led to its inevitable replacing. I wanted a good quality light that was compact and durable enough for every day carry, used normally obtained batteries (not 4 button cells that run between $3-$5 in stores!), has a decently powerful beam, didn't accidentally turn on in my pockets, and was ergonomic enough to operate with one hand. This Helotex K1 fit and surpassed the bill at a surprisingly economic price. I write 'surprisingly', because I'd expect a light of its caliber to be at least $5 more, but let's just keep that between us ;-) The only feature I wish it had (as with other lights in its class also...) was a push button tail cap switch, but I'm willing to overlook this for the features it has. Gripes? Yes, several. I found the included lanyard to be a bit too long for my personal preference. I'd much rather keep the light a bit closer to the keyring so it doesn't conflict/tangle in my pocket. The second and most noted... the spring clip broke after just the first week of use. Information Only - I just noticed the fine print that the AAA battery is included; IT IS NOT INCLUDED. ... show more

  • Great light--size weight and brilliance. I now have four and will buy more for gifts.
I was in the market for a decent key chain light. Tried a few including Surefire Titan --great light but long heavy and too much going on. Came across the Helotex and figured I'd give it a try. Good move. Does not as someone suggested take a unique and expensive battery. Just a AAA which powers an incredibly bright light. Not as bright as the surefires but is actually a great size and weight for your keychain--won't bang up your dash. I ordered a second just in case they become hard to find. Excellent choice for a key chain light and it won't cost you 50.00 or so dollars from Surefire . UPDATE: Just accidentally ran through the washing machine. Figured it was toast. Pulled it out, turned it on and wow -- lit up the room. No apparent damage but will change the battery just to be on the safe side. Well worth the money. One reviewer whined about having to buy an odd sized battery -- it runs on a AAAYou can buy a large quantity for ten or twelve bucks at Costco. ... show more

I work night shift at a hospital and it's great for getting in and out of rooms without waking up my patients by not turning on the rooms lights. I don't like that there is no button or click or switch or anything though to turn it on, only way to turn on is turning the top of it to the left, if you turn to much it will open and battery will fall out. But nontheless its great, small, and extremely bright for it's size! ... show more
