This vest is mostly as advertised. I am 5'10" 200lbs and ordered an XL. The pockets' inner mesh is not as warm as fleece lined pockets but still keeps hands warm enough. The zipper is somehow really easy to use yet still doesn't unzip, and has no sharp edges. The collar is super soft with the zip all the way up and does not catch my scruffy beard. I suspected it would be a "slim fit" which is why I ordered an XL. The armpit holes are a little tight but not too much. I got this for my office, which we keep at 68* year round. This is ideal for that: It's really thin and I can wad it up in my backpack in the summer and it won't wrinkle. It is very lightweight and the pockets are mesh, so I don't think this would be much good as a shell - I'm sure any wind will cut right through it. Also, it's not really "black black." It's definitely more dark charcoal gray. That's fine. I imagine you could layer with it and it would be ok. I wouldn't recommend this as a stand-alone outer layer, but if you need something for an office or flight or movie theater, this is a good option. ... show more

Not too thick, not too thin. Fits a little snug to size, but that's what I wanted. Would buy again or another in a different color.
